FJ axles are interchangeable with the 4th Gen 4Runner

As I understand it, the FJ front axles are interchangeable with the 4Runner (2004) front axles, it that correct? thanks. We have a 2004 Limited 4WD. CV Boots are shot. Seems easier to located FJ axles and install than buying OEM or Colorado Axle rebuilds. Thoughts? Phil

Yes they are. LKQ interchange lists them accordingly, and I have a pair of '09 FJ axles on my '07 4Runner.

How is it any easier to get FJ CVs than 4R CVs?

I have a 2005 4Runner that needs axles and there is apparently a shortage, at least in the southeast United States of remanufactured axles. If the FJ axles would work and they are somehow in stock, then that would be great. Thanks for the tip, I'm going to look into it.
