Fj coils, bilsteins, 2.5 spacers??? Too much?

Picking up 2010 FJ coils for my 03 2wd v8 today, also ordered daystars 2.5 front 1.5 rear and bilsteins 5100. I've read almost all the suspension threads and I don't see anyone with this exact setup, is this too much lift? If I set the bilsteins at .85 will that be ok? Will it be too stiff? Maybe bilsteins set at 2.5 and no front spacer?

I want a 3/2 lift with a good ride, I also will be putting airlift 1000 bags on the rear to carry two motorcycles on the rear.

Thanks, you guys are the experts.

should be fine, start with the zero setting on the front and measure. then go up from there to the height you'd like to ride at. measure ride height before hand and make sure you dont go past 3" of suspension lift. also if you go up to 3" of lift in the front you'll need adjustable UCA's (i.e. LR UCA's) to get your alignment back. hope this helps.

YA... that sounds like a bit overkill... for the Front. Your CV joints won't be able to handle the 2.5" spacer ON TOP of the 5100's at anything much above the lowest setting (which would defeat the purpose of having the adjustable height 5100's up front)

For the rear, the FJ coils, with the 1.5 spacer will work great with the Front FJ coils on the highest setting of the 5100's.

My recommendation is for what you have:
Front: FJ + 5100's at highest setting
Rear: Fj + 1.5" spacer.

Thanks guys, I would probably prefer not using a spacer in the front and setting the bilsteins to 2.5, that way I won't have the reduced travel from the use of the spacer. Or, would it be better to use a 1" spacer and reduce the bilsteins to .85 for a softer ride?

So many options.... I really don't want to keep redoing everything trying different options but I will if needed.

Ride should not change regardless of the spacer you pick. I'm not a fan of spacers and would just stick with using the shocks adjustablity.

What are you planning on doing with the runner? Off-road, daily driver, daily driver/weekend offroader, will never see dirt? Just curious because that plays a lot into what type of suspension you will want. Heck, if you have the coin just go buy a full ICON or Fox CO suspension and you'll be set. If you're like me and on a budget, but still want some off-roading capabilities, then I'd stick with the FJ/5100 for the front (top setting, should be approximately 2.5-2.75" lift) and lift coils in the rear. Or the FJ coils with a spacer in the rear. Again, it all depends on if you're going for max articulation or just something to hit the logging roads with. :bigok:

Next year I'm going to change out my front suspension to either a Radflo or Fox setup. I'm planning on getting a plate bumper down the road and want heavier coils up front with some adjustability. Good luck with your choice. I will say that you can't go wrong with the 5100's! They are night and day over stock (especially if your suspension was old and tired like mine was when I swapped).

Krup, yes it's my daily driver and I take my dirtbikes out to the desert. So mild offroading in washes or small whoops. No heavy articulation, I like speed, rock crawling is not my thing. Plus it's a 2wd.

Roger that. Then I'm with rm stucky in that you'll be fine with 5100's in the front and a rear spacer with FJC coils all around. Are you looking for new tires as well? That makes a huge difference in performance and appearance. Upgrade to some 285's after the lift and you'll be amazed. Can't wait to see pics of the finished product!
