hey guys, i recently picked up a used rough country 6" lift from a member from another forum. his name on the forum is krazyfj. now lets get to the real reason why everyone even clicked on this and its for the same reason i always clicked on these posted to find out more info if the 6" lift will fit what are the modifications we always hear about and the end result. well here it is........ after seeing another member that was 2wd istalled it and said it bolted right in i said hell with it im going for it!!! now the only thing im regreting is not doing this lift in the first place because ive done everything else in the pursuit of getting my truck taller then the next guy lol. im happy to say that this rough country kit bolted right in without a hitch. with all that said there is one thing you need to becareful with.

1. soak all your bolts with pb blaster or something better. skid plates, control arms diff. bolts tie rod ends, everything...... youll thank me

2. when placing the cross mount that positions the diff keep the diff up high till you have the cross members and the brace in and hand tight then lower the diff into place.

3. if you have the issue like i was happy enough to have where all but 1 of the lower control arms bolts had to be cut out and the remainder pressed out the control arm dont freak out. yea you can get the crappy toyota design or spc offers a more simple set-up which is what i have ordered.

4. when doing the rear springs be prepared to take out everything. the shocks, track bar, sway bar links, and upper control arms all have to come out anyway so no biggy, but put the springs in first then the upper control arms followed by the track bar and shocks, last the sway bar links.

hope this helps everyone that was on the fence for so long about pulling the trigger on a 6" lift. good luck everyone who goes for it. ill have pics up maybe by the weekend or early next week.

how the hell is this possible on a 4wd? If you wheel it at all youll shred the CVs unless you have like hi angle driveline cvs or something

long travel mix?
edit: i found a pic of cv angles on a 4x4 fj with a 6in, what makes me more concerned than the cv's, is the tie rod...

first notice that truck is jacked all the way up and that also may by why they added additional bump stops, also why would this be a disaster it works well on alot of the fj's its on its the same suspension.

here are the pics lower control arms are still out because i need to press out the old bolts that had to be cut out. pic 2 and 3 are what lower and position the proper angle for the diff. and pic 4and 5 are how the driver side of the diff is secured. everything bolted in place as if it was ment to be.

listen im not making this a pissing match about what anyone thinks or a shit show about who has doubt, fact is others have done this lift from this forum im only trying to clear up any doubt weather it will fit and bolt in which has always been the case holding most of us back. relax people damn.

if i remember correctly someone contacted rough country about this and they said it fits with alittle modding which wasnt needed at all. also there was always question about using the lift because our 4runners have an 8" diff. where the fj has a 7.5" diff.

Its a drop bracket lift, guys. You're basically going for maximum height with minimal gain in ground clearance.

No one is doubting you or making it a pissing contest. They just don't know what a DB lift is.

You're thinking of Husky

Anywho, you should upgrade the shocks with these:

2007 - Current FJ Cruiser 6" - 7" Lift Adjustable Front Coil-over Shock Kit - ICON Vehicle Dynamics

correct kkz and i believe alexjet was one of the first to test this but he used the old style lifts that fab tech made. i should have measured what i had for ground clearnce before i started so i knew where i will be once i get 35's on.

I also nick named them Sub-Frame lifts from their common appearance on Domestic trucks and Tacomas... They're mostly for fitting larger tires more than anything else really.

I was pretty sure the 4Runner, Tacoma, and FJ Cruiser use the same IFS Differential...

thats what i thought too black but from everything ive read we have an 8" front diff. because they offer our trucks in a v8. i guess to toyota they felt it needed to be alittle bigger, once again thats just from everythign ive read over the years.

I dont understand what the purpose of this lift kit is. It doesnt give you much extra ground clearance and your cog will be so high that it will make it less functional off road.
