hey guys, i recently picked up a used rough country 6" lift from a member from another forum. his name on the forum is krazyfj. now lets get to the real reason why everyone even clicked on this and its for the same reason i always clicked on these posted to find out more info if the 6" lift will fit what are the modifications we always hear about and the end result. well here it is........ after seeing another member that was 2wd istalled it and said it bolted right in i said hell with it im going for it!!! now the only thing im regreting is not doing this lift in the first place because ive done everything else in the pursuit of getting my truck taller then the next guy lol. im happy to say that this rough country kit bolted right in without a hitch. with all that said there is one thing you need to becareful with.
1. soak all your bolts with pb blaster or something better. skid plates, control arms diff. bolts tie rod ends, everything...... youll thank me
2. when placing the cross mount that positions the diff keep the diff up high till you have the cross members and the brace in and hand tight then lower the diff into place.
3. if you have the issue like i was happy enough to have where all but 1 of the lower control arms bolts had to be cut out and the remainder pressed out the control arm dont freak out. yea you can get the crappy toyota design or spc offers a more simple set-up which is what i have ordered.
4. when doing the rear springs be prepared to take out everything. the shocks, track bar, sway bar links, and upper control arms all have to come out anyway so no biggy, but put the springs in first then the upper control arms followed by the track bar and shocks, last the sway bar links.
hope this helps everyone that was on the fence for so long about pulling the trigger on a 6" lift. good luck everyone who goes for it. ill have pics up maybe by the weekend or early next week.
