FJ Spring Question

Noob here with a question about the FJ springs. I just purchased a 2006 V-6 SR-5 from my daughter and planned to sell it but the more I drove it the more I liked it so I'm going to keep it.

I have installed new Michelin LTX MS2's and a set of sport wheels. I purchased a set of Bilstien HO non adjustable shocks and after reading a lot of threads here I am thinking of using FJ springs.

So my questions are do all FJ springs interchange with T4R's ?

Do 4 wheel drive FJ's have a different spring rate than a 2 wheel drive ? What about the Trails edition ?

I don't plan to add a spacer in the front as the rake is ok with me, and I do not plan any off roading, I'm looking for a nice street ride.

Do 4 wheel drive FJ's have a different spring rate than a 2 wheel drive ? No and yes. The rate is the same but the 4wd springs are a bit longer so you want 4wd springs. What about the Trails edition ? Shocks on the TT are different but the springs are the same.

Did you install your Bilsteins already?

I have Bilsteins 5100 in front, and 4600(Yellow) in the rear. I can say that those Bilsteins will make the ride 10 percent stiffer than stock. Cornering feels better, less body roll and smooth at freeway speed so I feel more "in control" than before when it were factory Tociko shocks.

Now lets go back to the stiffness, As soon as you change it, you can feel that its firmer by 10% and by replacing also the springs with FJC's which I believe will also make a stock ride 10% firmer, The combination could be noticeably stiff but not uncomfortable. I like such ride compare to softer OEM suspension.

You might want to drive it for a say a month, then decide adding FJC springs if you want more firmer. Many have recommended the FJC spring upgrade, but few have install it with an aftermarket shocks like Bilstein 4600, most still uses the stock shocks and have good results.

Thanks for the info, I appreciate it. I was wondering if upgrading just the shocks would give me the ride I was looking for. Do the 5100's have a firmer ride than the F4BE5's ? Being able to adjust the front ride height might be worthwhile.

By upgrading just the shocks will give you a firmer ride. And should be much better if you also change the springs. Many have really very good feedbacks about the FJ springs.
I don't know about the ride difference of 5100 and F4BE5 C513/C514. I think 5100 is for lifted trucks, being the the Front 5100 Adj have the option to raise the front and the Rear 5100 is maybe longer than the C514. The 5100 series is popular in lift kits.

Thanks for the info. I did find a set of springs off a 2010 FJ Trails Edition and will install them with the Bilsteins, I'll let you know how it rides.
