FJ to be dropped in next few years...

I just put the seats down in the thing. I never carried people in the back. I think I opened the rear doors 5-6 times for the four years I owned it.

I personally don't like driving or riding in the back of my parents fj, the blind spots in the sides are massive, the non opening rear windows and poor airflow, along with lack of legroom make it terrible on long trips, especially in hot weather. The suicide rear doors were a good idea, but they are a pain to close from inside if you open too far and I'm 6 foot 180 lbs and still have a hell of a time getting out.

Its amazing how little room there is inside when you consider the size of the thing.

Is that bad?? I want to buy one. Would my kids hate it back there for a long drive on a vacation trip? We bought a 1999 4runner new when had our first kid. Truck is still running great. I like FJ better over the newer 4runners.

Your kids would hate you. The windows are tiny (smaller than airplane portholes), don't open, it's pitch black and dark back there, there's a huge pillar right next to you, you can barely see the windshield, there's not a lot of legroom (not a big deal with kids, but it adds to the claustrophobic feel).

Getting in and out is also a PITA because you have to open the huge front doors to get in and out of the back, and the front seat belts are mounted to the back doors, so you also have to unbuckle yourself, the back doors only open about 145-150 degrees (unlike 180 on most pickups), and you need a lot of room to open the front doors and back doors to unload a family.

Maybe if your kids are vampires, that'd be a good idea.

The FJ Cruiser would be OK for a baby seat, but unloading is still a PITA.

It's mainly an SUV for a young dude and his girlfriend, and their outdoorsy stuff in the back cargo area. When my wife wanted me to get a "real" truck, I was happy to rid myself of it.

...and for all the people who love to wheel it? You can't see out of the damn thing. Can't see out the front, side, back... What kind of 4x4 won't let you have any decent visibility?
