I see what you're saying but the difference is not that much. It might even make the suspension closer to what he's looking for as it will be more preloaded.

That kit will work. It is a 1" lift in the front, stock height for the rear. That is, if you don't change the springs.
The valving of the shocks is the only difference between that setup and the TRD Pro setup. With the extra weight it may be a bit of a cushier ride.
It's funny you started a thread on this kit as I just listed the exact kit for sale. I'm guessing you know one of the FJ Summit raffle winners?

preload isn't a good thing, it creates lift but at the same time limits your travel and thus the cushiness of the ride.
That was possibly poor word choice on my side. At any rate, I've seen lots of folks run FJ Suspensions on 4Runners and vice versa. Icon's (and pretty much all other aftermarket suspension companies as well) kits are identical between the two platforms. I highly doubt there will be a significant difference in ride or performance between the two setups.
Hell, there's an almost 300lb weight difference between the 2wd and 4wd 4Runners and FJ's as well.

I'd run it. As has been said late model fj and 4runner suspension are the same for all aftermarket companies I know of. I have 1st gen fj fox 2.5 on my 15 4runner. Only difference was the misalignment spacers on the bottom. $9 x 4 and I was in business. They ride very nicely. Early FJ are 12mm and late FJ adn 4runner are 14mm inside diameter on the lower coilover bolt
For $400 nearly new vs 1600 new it was a pretty easy call.
