FJ TRD Suspension Swap

So i found a full suspension setup (coils & shocks) from an '07 FJ TRD with 55k miles on 'em. Too many miles? I have haggled them down to $200. I've got a 2006 SR5, currently with a DS leveling kit. Thoughts?

I'd buy the coils from him and then spend an extra $150 on some 5100's and call it a day. I'm sure that setup will ride nicely for another 50k miles but I'd never buy used shocks with that many miles, unless you could talk him way down. Just a thought

My thoughts are opposite, they guy isn't going to take less for just springs. The shocks are going to be good i am sure. I would roll with them.. Unless you have lots of money then get some 5100's

IMO the shocks are worthless. To many miles with out knowing what condition they are in (wheeled it every weekend vs a highway queen) but the spring are worth 75 bucks as long as the paint is no missing anywhere.

Low mile FJ springs go for 100 bucks, low mileage trd shocks go for 100-200 on ebay all day long.

Just paid $100 for the exact setup a month ago, minus the rear shocks. Don't think I'd give $200.

I've got him down to $125 for the whole set-up. My concerns are just that I don't know where and how those 55k miles were spent. If I did get the whole setup the question is installation, I could do rear shocks but not springs or the front. The 4Wheel Parts in San Antonio here basically said they wouldn't install it b/c its used non-4R specific parts. Plus they wanted $450 for install and alignment, which seemed a bit much.

Maybe just 5100 on the rear for now and save up for new?

Solution was found easy enough. My Air Force Base has an auto shop that will help me install it all for $50/hr. I'll take it.

Wouldn't worry too much about the mileage on the springs. So long as they look good. I didn't use the shocks from my set. Kept my factory xreas for now until I want 5100's.

The fronts are easy if you follow the no spring compressor DIY. Basically just remove the two bolts holding the lower ball joint mount on, with a jack under it. Lower jack, push down lower control arm and the whole strut assembly is loose. I would find the link to the DIY but I'm using tapatalk on a phone..

I've seen the work-up for the DIY on the FJ suspension swap page. The mechanic at our base auto shop said he'd work with me on it, so I'm not going in completely blind if sh*t hits the fan. I appreciate everyone's input.

Buy'em, get a set of 5100s, DIY install, sell the front/rear shocks for $50, pat yourself on the back and have a beer.

"Unless you have lots of money then get some 5100's"??? 5100's only run $350ish, that's the extra $150 I was talking about. That's not a lot of $$$ when compared to some other suspension upgrades like CO's which run $800+. hmmmmm
