I have a friend that is selling her 17 inch FJ wheels. Are they the same off set as the 4 Runner 17 inch wheels. I have heard conflicting stories. Just want to know because it will affect which tire I go with.

if so, they'll push you out about 3/8"... I believe the offset is 25mm on the FJ's and the stock 4runner wheels are 35mm (I think)... 10mm difference/25.4mm in 1 inch is roughly 3/8"...

They're offset a little more aggressively, I love mine. I had them on a 3rd gen before this 4th gen.

The 07 ones are the same and you will notice no change.. The newer ones have a 1/2 more offset so they will let you run 285-70-17s without spacers.

That's why I run them on my 4th gens and my 5th gens.

The older tundra and sequoia wheels do the same thing.

I'm pretty sure that is incorrect. The research I've done states the 6 spoke FJ rims have the same +15mm offset as the later 8 hole FJ wheels.

The factory 4runner rims have a +30 offset so yes, the FJ rims do stick out noticeably more.

You may be correct.

Here is what I know..

I bought a set of 285-70-17 Cooper STT. Tried them on my factory SR5 wheels and the hut the upper control arm. So I had a set of FJ take offs so I pulled the tires off of the 4runner wheels and Mounted them on the older FJ 17" wheels. Tried to put them on my 03 SR5 and they touched the upper control arm again. Found a set of 2004 Sequoia Wheels, swapped the tires onto them and they fit just by a fraction of an inch.

On my 2013 4runner SR5 I bought the exact same tires, and they did not fit, same problem as before. So I bought a set of FJ 8 hole wheels after doing some research (I knew I did not want the old sequoia wheels on my new truck) and they fit with a little room just like before. I later did the tubular uppers and now I have plenty of room.

we have a set on our 2003 4Runner V6. They sit our slightly more than stock. We had a bit larger tire that rubbed the front mud flaps, mainly while backing and turning. Trimmed the mud flaps and no more rubbing. I have a set of FJ springs and shocks ready to go on soon. Personally, I like the look of the FJ wheels better than the stock, it give the truck a bit of personality. I am seeing more and more FJ wheels popping up on Craigslist for $200 to $300 for the set. This is true, I've owned both sets of FJ rims (6 spoke & 8 hole). Only difference other than the styling is rim weight (6 spoke rims weigh less).
