Upper Control Arms are done!
so the first arm took me about 6 hours to try and figure out. i had to go to the local auto parts store 3 times trying to get the right tool to remove the ball joints, and separate the knuckle from the upper control arm.
They say to keep the suspension loaded so that it is easier to remove the arm
This was the original arm before i separated it from the rest of the assembly
Then separated after much time getting the right press to get the sucker out!
Pressing the ball joint out of the knuckle arm (yes this is the other side ... took the picture on the second round)
The new arm all set and ready to be connected!
Then the final product. . . i did do some minor adjustment to the caster/camber after this pic was taken
by the way, the second arm took a mere 40 minutes
the install was definitely educating. i suggest watching the video on SPC-TV.com a few times first before trying to take on this task. make sure you get the right arm puller for the job (i actually used the one in the picture for the entire job, to pop the arm off of the knuckle, to press out the old ball joint, and to press in the new retainer.

after getting the second arm done so quickly the next day, i had some extra time to kill. . .so the flares came off, and i went ahead and installed the sliders
Lining up the sliders for the first marks on the frame to drill out
Final product!
So next will be rhino lining where my flares were, and across the bottom door line then the BudBuilt Skid plates, LED lighting across the whole truck inclusive of the dash, then most likely on board air/rear ARB locker. . we shall see!

I'm not gonna put them back on, no. I'll take some pictures of them and the mounting hardware if you'd like. I'll have to take a look to make sure the tabs aren't all jacked up
Just PM me a pic or 2 and a price.
4runner is looking really good. Those bumpers helped change the whole look.

Gmv4k: I rented it from an auto parts store but this is the product. i did have to use longer bolts to keep the arms together. i went to home dept and got the exact same cross bolts that come with it but about 2 inches longer. this is because the stock runner upper arms are way too damn wide!

Nice work on your 4Runner, looking really good. I'm ordering my ShrockWork Bumpers this week, thanks largely to you and a couple of other people chiming in on my Thread over the weekend. Just had the time to look at your build and really would like to see it, I sent PM to you, just let me know. By the way, have you every heard of DIYTexas (www.diytexas.com)? I know you have already completed a lot of work on you Runner, but if you ever find yourself in the need of a real nice "Do it yourself" automotive garage, check them out. i just found out about them and have used them a couple of times already, just rented the bay I needed and went to work on my Runner. As you know I just did my 3" OME Lift over the weekend and yes, I rented one of the lifting bays ($20/hour) X 3 and it made the job so much easier.
What else do you have planned for your Runner and when do you hope to have it all completed? Can't wait to see the final product, it's going to be sweet!!!

i have heard of the DIY-Texas rental bays. i wish i would have thought of that idea. a friend of mine is actually looking to open something similar in south austin/san marcos area. but my brother and i live about 3 blocks from each other so his garage has turned in to our work bay. only missing a lift, but its not that bad he has a 5th gen, and an FJ40, and i used to have an FJ60, so our tool collection is vast. . . i texted ya, no reply tho.

the Toytec lit boasts 3" for the OME's in the rear, and up to 3.5" in the front with the coilovers. id say my front is a bit over 3" but not quite 3.5. . .
Rear wheels should be fine. But not sure about the front. Would be trial and error. I wouldn't think it would be as bad as mine ended up on the front with that size tire. If it didn't work it would just need small spacers up front.

on the upper control arms go to fatbobsgarage $379.00 a pair for tubular a-arms just to fix that problem they're $450 every where else
