FJ80 Coils

I am trying to find the part number for FJ80 coils that fit the back of the 3rd Gen so I can scour the internet for a set. I live in small town Kansas, not sure that Ill find any in my local yards. I have found plenty of after market FJ80 coils that look to be 7 wraps...but they are all designed to lift the FJ80...so obviously not what I need. If anyone knows the part number, or of a site where I might pick up a pair please let me know. Sooner that I can find a set of those coils and some from a tundra the sooner I can put pictures up!

I found this on rock auto, along with two other sets, these seem like they would be stock height, but suggest they are for european models only. Any clue?
 
I was looking at Rock Auto. I believe that the reference to "European Vehicles" is because the parts are European sourced. They should fit, but the shipping is quite expensive on them, which leads me to this conclusion.
 
As far as rear shocks go with those wraps, do I want to use the bilstein 5100 extended travel for the 4runner? Wheelers has them for 155 a pair. Want to make sure that these will give the travel I need.
 
one of the links on that discusses how the FJ80 had different heights for the drivers and passenger side springs and the 4runner uses equal lengths, so that would imply i need to use two of the same side instead of a pair for equal height. Yes?

I managed to find every bit of information needed on these coils already existing on this site.

You don't have to use Bilsteins. The stock LC shocks work pretty well and don't hit the wallet as hard.
 
Rock Auto in Tucson is a meth distributor. Hopefully it's something else. Don't get me wrong they have Toyota parts too... but also Meth. And not the injection form.
 
I found LC coils on eBay. Also Car-Part.com will work. Might have to try a few places before you find one who will ship. Look for A 4x4 non SE cruiser for the 8 wraps. My springs were from the same truck and slightly different lengths but it isn't noticable to me.

What part of T Town you from man? I just celebrated my 1 year in Kansas, also question off topic of the FJ80 coils.

Whats the difference between this complete setup ToyTec coilover kit with Bilstein 5100 shocks for 600 bucks, and just buying the toytec springs, and a set of bilstein 5100 adjustables? Seriously the price difference is huge... 200 for the shocks and 170 for coils is 230 dollars less... but I dont know (besides the few things pictured) where the 230 dollar difference comes.


Second will the Tundra 5100 rear coils work with the Toytec rear springs?

Well, 5100 adjustables aren't coilover adjustable, that's what that kit allows; I think they are 3 position height adjustable normally. I could be mistaken on what you're asking, but a true coilover is going to perform better than a strut set up because of the valving and fine tuning... If you were just asking about cost difference I think you are missing the "kit" to convert them. If you have the money to spend, the coilovers are nicer and easier... if you'd rather spend it somewhere else that's fine too but there is no cheap way around it.

As far as the Tundra thing, A. 5100 is a shock... so if you are thinking about mixing and matching front and rear springs, it won't work... if you're talking about matching a front Tundra strut assembly and on the rear of the vehicle you are using Toytec springs, it will be just fine. The nice thing about the Tundra set up in the front is that it's got factory progressive spring rates and the adjustable shock height allows you to get pretty close to whatever springs you have in the rear.... hope that helped? Maybe?

but i wanted to make sure they were compatable with the Toytec shocks. Those are each designed for the Tundra not the 4runner. I know for atleast the front those are the part numbers used to pair up with TRD coils so I am pretty confident they will work, but I dont want my coils to fall out in the back if they are too long for the toytec's. I know they offer rear long travels that are for the 4runner... but I like the cost for the ones on amazon if they fit.

You want to make sure the Tundra shocks are compatible with the Toytec springs... is that what you are asking? I think you are using the terms Shock and Spring interchangeably and it's very confusing.

The shock is not what's going to keep your spring in place. If the shocks fit and don't top or bottom out you're good.
 
I was actually using coil and spring interchangably, except in the last post where I said i was going to use "toytec shocks" with them... in which case Im an idiot and meant coils, wraps, springs. You know what I mean. This happens all the time. I talk, type too fast. Dont proofread...

But yes. I want the Bilstein 5100s Front and back Tundra shocks to go with the Toytec Coils and just wanted to make sure they should work.
