sorry to hear that, mine were flaking (corrosion) as well so I decided to just replace them with the FJ wheels instead. Not sure about your choices other than probably getting them powder coated but that would probably cost you as much as just getting them replaced all together.

^^^ Does that really work? Is it more durable than just Plastidip? I've never used Plastidip before but I have 4 cans and a bunch of stuff I want to try it on. Just wondering.......
If I dip them, won't they continue to flake?

I stripped, sanded, and repainted mine using a good primer and Duplicolor wheel paint.
My wheels were shot. I had to do something with them. A heads up on the Duplicolor wheel paint...it does not like the wheel scrubbers in those drive-through car washes. Good news, though, it is easy to touch up.

Purchasing new wheels and then, likely, new tires to fit on them, mounting, etc...$$$
Taking your old ones off, removing the tires, having them go through the entire restoration and repowdercoating, remounting, etc.=time without your wheels, and still, a lot of $$$.
Driveway stripping, sanding, priming, repainting...a lot less time and $$$. Are they as nice as having them professionally restored and powdercoated?...NO. Are they as nice as a new set of rims?...NO. Do they look ALOT better than they did?...YES.

When I got my Runner the wheels were pretty sh.crappy looking. I bought some FJ rims on CL for $125, they had some pitting, but not to bad. I had them powder coated black matte for $200 and plastidipped the center caps. Then I used an exacto and trimmed out the logo. If you look real close you can see some minor pitting under the coating, but no one but me sees it. Hard to beat 325 for a new set of wheels. I shoulda rolled it a bit so the logo was straight, sorry for the sloppiness.

I just picked up a set of sport rims for $40. Flaking badly but I only bought them so I could have a set of dedicated snow tires. A weekend, a bit of elbow grease and a few cans of Plasti-dip should make them look acceptable. They wont be perfect, but they don't need to be. Still need to add TPMs and maybe center caps, but thats still a significant savings. If mine turn out as nice as Bowhunter53's look, I'll be very happy. Its all in how high you want to set the bar.
What condition were your rims in before you Platidipped them?

Hey, [MENTION=91230]iBison[/MENTION], those powdercoated FJ wheels look damned nice! I am now thinking about getting a set of FJ wheels and doing the same thing. Can you forgive me for being a poser and copying you? Don't get me wrong, I like my KMC wheels, but I get bored pretty easy. But, if you cannot forgive me, then pray for your eternal soul cause you're on the wrong team! HA!

I have to agree with Markin. I did the driveway job on my wheels and they look a lot better than they did. I do not want to dump money into the wheels. They look just fine with the duplicolor wheel paint and can be touched up if needed.

Wow that looks good. Is that the regular black?
That looks pretty dang close to the stock finish. Is that just rattle canned?
