Well prices vary depending on the type of vinyl- I am splitting the cost with a friend of mine...we are doing two cars, one is a dodge sprinter, other is the 4runner.

My friend is a bit of a nut so he insisted on buying the best and buying all the tools.

I believe my cost otd is around $700. However we had a number of tools prior.

I will tell you I had to get my dents pulled out of the 4runner so the vinyl could look smooth. $75 per panel was not cheap.

We also secured a indoor warehouse so we can do the install, we also have the heat lamps ready and thermometers.

As lame as it sounds there is a DVD set from a famous guy that I can't find on google. Guess he isnt that famous. Anyways the DVD broke down everything that needs to be done from technique, temp, to prep work.

I plan take a number of photos so I can create a youtube video like the ferrari one I posted.

im thinking about doing the plastidip for a day just for the hell of it. i wouldnt even have to mask off any windows...

but removing it all would become a PIA i guess... hmmmm.

I am wrapping my 02 4runner within the next two months I hope.

Purchased all the material, just waiting for a friend of mine to get back from vacation.

Was thinking about going to white vinyl, however I figured it would only take one jerk off to use a sharpie and tag up my ride. hahahah

The process isnt hard, just have to know the right technique and prep.

There are different kinds of black you might be looking for. If you want true flat black then that is going to look like a chalkboard and have no shine to it. There is satin and semi gloss which have a little shine to it. Mine is semi gloss and I had it professionally done. Those are easier to keep clean but still show water spots really easily.

I think full car wraps are around $2000 and the wraps aren't going to cover the door jambs so unless it's black to begin with it would look weird.

Just called a shop that does this service. Their charging me 3100. That was their deal! Ill buy $100 worth of plasti dip instead lol :flipoff:

it looks good on wheels, bumpers and sliders.

I don't think it will look good on the body. also you should really just call it DUST Black because that is what it will look like 15 mins after washing it.

I might be biased since my truck is factory gloss black.

But I would like to see pictures of the plasti dipped truck. I would be cautious of what the plasti-dip does to you paint after the metal and paint heat up to 150 degrees for long periods of time. I would think it will damage the clear coat or paint.

Although I'd rather stick with my factory gloss black paint over flat black any day of the week, Satin black looks KILLER when done professionally. There's a 01-04 Tacoma that I see driving around Vista, CA that has it, and it looks soooo good. He's got 32 or 33's, and it flows. I wouldn't put it on a stock 4runner, but something with a lift and bigger tires would be cool. I have a hard enough time keeping my ride clean, so I know I wouldn't want to d*ck with flat black...

I like my gloss all black 4runner sport, but there are some blemishes from the previous owners from either eggs or bird residue. Vinly will hopefully last 8-10 years and I can always go back to the norm.
