Looking to find some answers here. I have been all over other forums trying to find a few answers to my questions with no results. I figured someone here might have some experience with flat paint, so here it goes. I have a friend with a project car that he wants to paint flat black. It does not matter if you like that color/finish or not, just looking for answers, no haters. What we`re looking for is problems with keeping the car looking good and fresh. First off, the car will not be wrapped. Through some research, putting a base coat on without a top coat is not an option. So here is what is left. A single stage paint. Problem is, that it cannot be waxed and the car won`t be garaged (garage is full) and will be driven on a regular basis (fun car to drive) so the paint will deteriorate quickly. Next is a two stage paint with a flattening agent in with the clear. There is almost no information on this. What I did find out was that it takes some experience to mix the clear with the agent. Last we have aviation paint. Again, not too much on this either and where do you get this stuff? Cleaning any of these paints is simple, soap and water. So here is the real questions. With a matte finish what does it take to keep the finger prints less noticeable, without cutting hands off? Imagine a shiny clean black car with a couple of finger prints and multiply their visibility by 10. Will trying to clean a specific spot, like bird droppings, result in a shiny area?
