flat tire replaced yet tire monitor still on

had a flat tire on my way home today so I put my spare on and yet the tire pressure light is still on. All 4 tires are at 35psi. My hunch is that the tire pressure monitor is built into the wheel and the spare doesn have it . Although I always thought toyota does it based on the change in ride height and such . Any ideas ? Do I have to reset it somehow ?

Sensor is on all 5 tires. So until you get that flat fixed, that light will remain on.

or leave the flat spare off till its fixed so the central sensor will not register the flat sensor.

the flat tire is at a tire place and yet I still get the light on. Is it because he is missing the fifth sensor ????

the central sensor just reads what the transmitters send, so if the 5th sensor is nowhere near it cant read the sensor. so i am guessing one of the 4 tires or sensor could be low/bad. there are some other threads around here about the sensors.

Check the pressure in the spare you just mounted. I pulled mine down for the first time to do a 5 tire rotation, and found it at 45 psi after over a year in place. It might be set just below the trip point, and after use it heats up and goes over pressure.

My '04 does NOT have a sensor in the spare.
Already had to try it.

I think this may be the case as well. I think the spare may not have a monitor in it and therefore the system only sees 3 and keeps complaining. I have checked all the tires and they are all around 33 psi. I should be getting my new tire today and will call the dealer to find out how much those sensors are since I think the shop I took it to first just to see if they can patch it , screwed it up. and I am really tired of that stupid light.
