Floor Jacks?

I'm after a good quality floor jack and a pair of stands to aide in doing basic maintenance... like oil change, pumping some grease in the drive shaft to help reduce the clunk, etc.

Any recommendations? I wasn't sure how high the jack should be able to go for a 4th gen. I've been looking at reviews, and keep going back and forth on brands and can't make up my mind on exactly what I need.

I picked up a kobalt jack + jackstand set from lowes a few years back, I've used it 90932083098 times and the stand and jacks are still holding fine today. Even had my dads 2500 HD diesel chevy on them.

Take a tape measure and measure from the ground to the jack up points, and then jack it up intil the tire lifts off the ground and measure again. Now you know what height and range your jack and stands need to be. I got a high lift SUV jack off of Amazon and I like it. My stands I found at a pawn shop.

I do the same basic maintenance with a set of ramps. Very easy and safe.
Got them from Autozone.

Ramps are ok for oil changes and simple stuff, but for suspension or front end brake work you will need stands.

Unless you're lifted pretty good I think any decent 2.5-3ton floor jack will get the job done. I have a pretty basic 2.5 ton floor jack idk lift height but it looks to be standard. It will lift my Chevy 2500HD on 35's with a ground to fender measurement of 44.5" just high enough to take off the tires.

Go to Costco tomorrow and pick up the one they have in stock for $109 right now. It is really great deal and won't last because they change inventory every few weeks. I bought mine 2-3 weeks ago.

If you want a good quality jack then you probably can't do better then a Hein Werner, but you will breaking the bank with one. But it will last a lifetime..

Second one I'd go with would be an OTC Stinger with Stands
