And in the last 23 years we have had 2 other major mass casualty building bombings (9/11, boston marathon). Yet we have mass casualty school/public shootings on an almost monthly basis. Ill take 3 in 23 years...

I mean I agree mental health is a huge part of this, but why can't it it should be a two pronged attack?

Hey we have one of those laws for guns too! I have to show my Identification everytime I buy a gun, and the chemical "taggant" is kind of like one of them gun serial numbers stamped on the side.

Agree, too.

I am in the middle.
I favor the attempt to make sure only those properly trained and qualified (including mental stability) should be allowed to own guns. However, I also believe that despite what the government does to control guns, the law-abiding citizens would have the mellowed versions while the bad guys will still have the stronger guns. (Just like during prohibition, when the bootleggers had faster cars than law enforcement)

The reason there may never be a favorable middle-ground on gun control or freedom to own guns is not because of the guns but because of the POLITICS. The politicians are merely using the topic to gain favor. One side gains votes by being pro-gun control, the other side gains votes by allowing everybody to own guns without checks.

So while, it's amusing to see the debate, I am not hopeful that there would be a solution.

Any comments I made were only meant to make/stimulate conversation, not to attack anyone or their religions or social belief.

I feel terrible for anyone that's had to live through the killing of their child.
I could not even pretend to know what that's is like.

And I think that's terrible, but that doesn't change my mind or my stance about gun control.
