The really messed up part of this shooting is that I will probably buy an extra 16" AR upper...unless I am already to late...prices probably doubled since this last killing spree.

A very apt statement. Especially now that we are on page 23 of this debate, with the same old arguments being made, everyone digging in their heels and seemingly nothing being done.
 
Hiya folks. It's been a while but I see the never-ending debate is still in rare form.

I went back about 10 pages and was disappointed about the lack of comments on parenting. Parents today can't use corporal punishment (and perhaps they shouldn't). I think part of the challenge is that most of the parents today grew up under the threat of the switch, paddle, etc and seem to struggle to find new ways to discipline or reinforce morals in their children. Kida today can do no wrong and parents are quick to try to associate with some kind of medical condition or failure in someone else for their spawn's actions.

Additionally, kids spend most of their waking moments with educators, but they are no longer empowered to discipline children, even verbally, for fear of being sued into oblivion. This is the reason I have to pay for million dollar umbrella insurance because who knows when a parent will get a wild hair up their ass to blame my wife for their own shortcomings.

For all you libs wanting to license something, how about we license procreation? And that's not to say you can prevent 2 people from bumping uglies (a true inalienable right), but without completing coursework and getting said license, perhaps they are financially penalized until they can prove their ability to care for their offspring (and they certainly should not rewarded with government assistance and tax credits/deductions).

In any case, 2A isn't going anywhere. Once the original "assault weapon" ban was lifted, it's unlikely to return anytime soon. How about we focus on issues where we can actually make a difference... parenting, mental health, security, and intercommunication and action from the agencies we fund so well to prevent these situations.

I don’t get why this parenting comment is aimed at libs? It’s not a bad idea but your target audience is wrong. The country is being over run by Clevon’s, pretty soon we will all be eating at Butt Fu**ers and watching ouch my balls.


Also,in 99% of these school shootings the kid uses their parents gun. Maybe a lib parent wouldn’t be dumb enough to have a gun that their kid can get access to shoot up a school.

Perhaps you should read the entire thread. I stopped commenting because at this point there really is no intelligent conversation going on. However the first few pages I think a fair amount of posters mentioned parenting as a significant difference maker. myself included. I would pay particular attention to the first six pages, rather than the last 6 pages.

Because it's always the same.

Every time there is a shooting liberals want to ban guns, but realize it's impossible without seriously altering the constitution (which is political suicide) so they go with the same, tired shaming, emotionally charged arguments, false statistics, etc.

There is no simple way to get this done, the root of the problem is not simply a gun. A crazy kid will find other ways if a gun is not available. You have to deal with the crazy also. There are so many people on this thread that know nothing about guns, the AR15 is one of so many guns and there are other guns that can do so much more. So banning an ar15 and a bump stock is equivalent to me plugging a hole in my boat with my finger. Some of us grew up with guns and respect what they can do.

It’s all talk and very little reaction or complete over reaction. Welp with all the dim wits on vacation after a stellar session on Daca, I guess we have to wait for the tan and well rested in Congress to get back to work to see how this plays out. Trump could get something done, he has pissed everyone off already maybe he will take this on.

Its not emotion, its death. It not propaganda or the media, its death. You can close your eyes or spin it whatever way you want, its still death.

Would you be ok with say an additional 30% tax on all firearms and ammunition to fund mental health institutions that prevent deranged people from buying guns? Its the only problem that exists in most of your minds. Or does that infringe on your rights as well?

The way I see it, you are selectively prioritizing the second amendment above the following:

"We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness"

Times have changed since the implementation of the second amendment, and it is just that, an amendment, added due to the climate at the time.

Is your second amendment right more important than others right to life? Additionally, is it not plausible that an amendment can or should be modified or altered, or an additional amendment added based on our current climate? Because if we just stagnate and refuse to accept any change or modification, we will no longer be part of a progressive society, and at some point inaction becomes compliancy.

the supreme court, even conservative members like scalia, have repeatedly confirmed that gun control does not violate the 2nd amendment. now maybe you are actually a constitutional expert who has been nominated for the next supreme court vacancy, but if not the court's position on the 2nd amendment is what matters

we have a gun problem, sportsmen and gun supporters can either lead the charge using their experience and knowledge to draft sensible solutions or be left behind as the pendulum swings and overbearing controls are put in place. the number of us gun owners who are okay with, and and asking for, more gun control is large and growing.
