They really haven't.The really messed up part of this shooting is that I will probably buy an extra 16" AR upper...unless I am already to late...prices probably doubled since this last killing spree.

Sarcasm? Gotta use emoticons when typing sarcasm:wtf:
"In retrospect Sandy Hook marked the end of the US gun control debate. Once America decided killing children was bearable, it was over."
For all you libs wanting to license something, how about we license procreation? And that's not to say you can prevent 2 people from bumping uglies (a true inalienable right), but without completing coursework and getting said license, perhaps they are financially penalized until they can prove their ability to care for their offspring (and they certainly should not rewarded with government assistance and tax credits/deductions).
Hiya folks. It's been a while but I see the never-ending debate is still in rare form.
I went back about 10 pages and was disappointed about the lack of comments on parenting. Parents today can't use corporal punishment (and perhaps they shouldn't). I think part of the challenge is that most of the parents today grew up under the threat of the switch, paddle, etc and seem to struggle to find new ways to discipline or reinforce morals in their children. Kida today can do no wrong and parents are quick to try to associate with some kind of medical condition or failure in someone else for their spawn's actions.
Additionally, kids spend most of their waking moments with educators, but they are no longer empowered to discipline children, even verbally, for fear of being sued into oblivion. This is the reason I have to pay for million dollar umbrella insurance because who knows when a parent will get a wild hair up their ass to blame my wife for their own shortcomings.

In any case, 2A isn't going anywhere. Once the original "assault weapon" ban was lifted, it's unlikely to return anytime soon. How about we focus on issues where we can actually make a difference... parenting, mental health, security, and intercommunication and action from the agencies we fund so well to prevent these situations.
Perhaps you should read the entire thread. I stopped commenting because at this point there really is no intelligent conversation going on. However the first few pages I think a fair amount of posters mentioned parenting as a significant difference maker. myself included. I would pay particular attention to the first six pages, rather than the last 6 pages.
Because it's always the same.this thread went to shit whenever all conversation was shut down to attack the 2nd amendment.
There is no simple way to get this done, the root of the problem is not simply a gun. A crazy kid will find other ways if a gun is not available. You have to deal with the crazy also. There are so many people on this thread that know nothing about guns, the AR15 is one of so many guns and there are other guns that can do so much more. So banning an ar15 and a bump stock is equivalent to me plugging a hole in my boat with my finger. Some of us grew up with guns and respect what they can do.Because it's always the same.
Every time there is a shooting liberals want to ban guns, but realize it's impossible without seriously altering the constitution (which is political suicide) so they go with the same, tired shaming, emotionally charged arguments, false statistics, etc.

The problem is that politicians hear screeching all around them that "something has to be done" and then we get BS like Colorado's recent gun legislation.

Progress.
Round and round we go. Why is no action an acceptable course of action to you? Even on the mental health front no serious action has been taken.
Because you have no basis to take away my inalienable Constitutional rights based on an emotional argument made on behalf of politicians and their propagandist tools in the media.
It's not hard.
