Flowmaster

Hello - love these boards and they've always been so helpful - so I was wondering...

I'm thinking about getting a flowmaster on m 98. I don't want something that's overbearingly loud but still want a little muscle sound. Is Flowmaster the best or what are some recommendations on brands for exhaust?

Any help would be appreciated.

i have a flowmaster 65 series under my 96 it sounds good the only time its annoying is when the truck is ice cold or when ur at high rpms but it still does sound good o and l8te at nite or if ur foot is at the right speed other then that thoe i love it wouldnt change it but thats just me ive heard the trd its quite and all the other ones but i liek it bcuz thats how everyone nos it is me

I'll add another one to make it even more confusing. Most of the mufflers I tried were too loud, i.e. flowmaster, magnaflow etc. I put on a pretty cheap dynomax super turbo and love the heck out of it. Just the right rumble without noise or drone.

+1 !! Exactly what I put on after researching testimonials on each brand. Started to go w/ the Vortex that Burtman sells, but heard the drone was a tad overbearing. Very happy w/ the Dynomax, & they claim it outflows the equivalent Flowmaster, FWIW.

24'' magnaflow is a tad louder than stock but flows way better..... but i like my stuff louder

i'm glad to find a convo about this.. i have a 97 4runner limited and i've always wanted it to sound a lot meaner..I kind of like the sound of flowmaster..though it sounds somewhat like a racing car. I'm looking for a meaner truck sound..and i kind of found a sound clip with the Dynomax but it was on a v8.

That sounds very good. So you bought the Magnaflow online right? And where did you get it installed?

thanks i got it installed here at a local muffer shop for about $65 bucks but it was worth it sure you can get it installed cheaper but i only got a few places here that have time ....links in my sig are for the muffler you need makes it easy for anyone who wants one

I have the TRD Catback on my 99. I think it sounds really good. The idle is a low rumble. The regular driving is pretty mild but can be loud under load. Up hills it isn't bad but you can really hear it. I wish I had some better videos.

Yes, I am aware it sounds like a weed-eater but its just the camera. I still keep telling myself I'll get the old studio mic out but I'm far too lazy.
