fluid in air box

Ok so i have a 95 3vze v6 all track.

It started with a starting issue. I just pulled the starter out and the alternator this morning.

well without taking off the distributor. you gotta pull out the air box.
Upon pulling out the intake tube. there was fluid in that little box thing.
(if you guys know what im talking about here is the order intake box then tube going down into a small box. then tube going up into the throttle)

when i pulled intake tube off fluid just fell out. it had a smell of fuel.

i have a theory which totally uneducated but just a speculation.

the starting issue i had. the i would turn the ignition many times till the starter cranked and the engine would fire up. after a while (like yesterday) i would turn the key many times and the starter would crank but get weak and stop mid cycle. could it be that the the engine did not crank at the proper revolutions and me stepping on the accelerator while the engine cranked just injected fuel into the throttle some way some how without igniting?

please bestow me with your knowledge. I am going to get mt alt and starter benched right now.

see you in space cowboy..................
