FN Five Star vs SCS F5

Happy New year T4R Fam! Hope everyone had an awesome Christmas and New year!

I'm in the market for new wheels and are torn between the FN Five Star and the SCS F5. They are both 16 x 8 -25. The F5's weigh 19 lbs each but not too sure how much the Five stars weigh.

Currently have a 3" lift and sport running boards that will probably stay. Any feedback on both types of wheels with tire combination in helping me decide on which direction to go would be appreciated!

Looks like weight is negligible - the FN five stars weigh 18.9lbs as per their website...

Either way, new shoes are new shoes! Pick the one that you find the most aesthetically pleasing :rockon:

The F5's are a little bit cheaper so that's my vote lol! Spend that extra $80 on something fun, maybe a date?

Both are great choices, I've owned Ray10s before and I currently bought a set of Countersteer Type Xs from Dustin at FN.

I will say that the customer service I received from FNWheels was fantastic. Dustin even gave me a phone call before shipping out my wheels to ask what vehicle they are going on, and also gave me a set of 24 lug nuts for free.

They used to be a bit of a pain to track down, and more so if you wanted something like the Ray 10. But the stock on 5Fs has been pretty consistent in the size he is looking for.

You would not go wrong with either. They are both damn nice looking wheels in a unique, and seldom found backspace. I don't have any idea on how they will play with your stock running boards. And if you still have stock UCAs, you might need to address some rubbing from the pretty aggressive backspacing you are looking at. I still think it is worth it.

F5’s in the dark matte bronze have always been my favorite. I doubt I will ditch the 5 spoke oem t4r rims but if I do those are what I would get. The 5 spoke t4r rims have actually really grown on me though so I’m happy..

I have the FN's and was considering the SCS but I prefer the narrower spoke of the FN. The "lottery" nonsense is just ridiculous IMO.

I'm partial to SCS. Fantastic customer service and the wheels are great quality. If your preferred style/configuration is out of stock shoot them an email about availability. I only had to wait a week for mine to be in stock.

Great resale value is another plus for SCS

They are exactly the same except for style, pick the one you like best lol I love the fn5’s which is why I bought them, but that is totally subjective.

I also agree FN. I waited like a year and my wheels at scs were never available. When I emailed they would give me a month they might restock and I can "try" to order from the super small batch.

This. The way SCS sells wheels is stupid as ****. Which is a shame, because I’d like to have a set but I refuse to play their dumb games.

Your set up looks really good! What size tire are you running? Lift? Any rubbing?

I am a fan of SCS and FN. I chose SCS and had 0 issues with the company. :shrug:

I don't need to do research. It's obvious to me that popular stuff is liable to sell out and you have to wait on it to get back in stock. Not sure what "special connection" you're referring to...

Yup. I would be happy with either. But, I really liked the SCS F5 design. I had no problems ordering them. They shipped fast and safe. When I got my F5's, the SCS Ray 10's were in high demand. At the time, the Ray 10's were still pretty new and being offered in limited run finishes.

I would be happy to order through SCS again. I also, wouldn't have any problems ordering some FN wheels. They are both good, pro-Toyota companies with some good spec offerings that are hard to find with anyone else.

These are 265/75-16's and zero rubbing, I'll probably put some 315's on next and then I'm sure I'll be rubbing haha.
