fog lamp upgrade/retrofit?

i have been looking for a factory set and found them.

now, i want to replace the factory bulbs and install something better/brighter. what can i get for them? what size bulb are they?

H3 bulbs. There is write up on here about adding HIDs to them, but it is a good bit of work. I went with Hella Optilux at first, but they burned out quick. The second time around I went with a long life Hella H3 and everything has been good so far, but it has only been a few weeks.

The optilux I started with were yellow, but burned out quickly. The ones I have now are a regular white bulb.

The only part I didn't like about the HIDs was that you had to cut the stock wiring. That's usually what happens as well when adding HIDs to a set up designed for halogens, the output is worse. I wish my yellow bulbs would have lasted longer, I really liked the yellow light.

I just cut off the old plug from the old lights and soldered that. No change to car side wiring.

i noticed that on the cover it says H3 or H3A. is anyone running or has anyone run the amber H3's for fogs? what brand? light output? longevity?

The hella optilux I mentioned are amber. Longevity was not good but I liked the color alot.
