Fog Light Mod

I have been reading the forum for a while trying to figure out whos advice to take about how to turn on the fog lights without having to turn on the headlights. I finally just kinda did what RXvedub said in this thread , and it did exactly what I wanted. I tied the jumper to the green wire for the driver's side parking light to supply the ignition-on power for the fogs. The lights come on without the headlights having to be turned on, and they go off when you turn the ignition off so you don't kill your battery. I still can't figure out what the point of the whole steering column jumper wire was supposed to be, but I don't see any need to do any more wiring. Thanks for the advice!!

Did you have to do the little pig tails on the pin?

The first thing I did was make the jumper with a little bit of 18 guage wire and a crimp on "quick release" spade adapter on one end. After you bend the correct pin out and up on the fog light relay, you just plug the spade adapter onto the pin and run it to the parking light positive wire (green, I hope!). It was actually very easy, surprisingly. I think that all of the pigtails that RXvedub put on there were an attempt to clean up the install, which really doesn't look messy at all if you tuck the wire around behind the battery

So after this mod, everthing should be the same only now that the fog lights can be turned on without turning the headlights on?

Correct That is all that I was trying to do before, and was so confused by everyone arguing about this and that, that I couldn't figure out what needed to be done! Hope that this helps out. I'll take some pictures of exactly what I did tomorrow, weather permitting, and put them up here.

Ahhhhh! That is what the steering column step is for! I couldn't quite figure that one out. Thanks for the clarification!

Here is the link for better visual explanation on both modifications. I like better the mod from kmvreter is cleaner looking........just my personal opinion but you have both mods to pick one.
