Fog Light Mod

Hi,

I've searched the forums and have read all of the ways to mod you fog lights so they illuminate with the parking/DRL. The issue that i'm having is that i have the IG relay and the AC 115 inverter relay. Does anyone have a suggestion where to get the 12volts i need so that i might use my fogs with out my headlights?

Any and all suggestion are appreciated.

Possibly hook it up to the headlight fuse? Just an Idea.

You would get 12V power from any source in the engine compartment fuse box that is live with the ignition on. I dont have the manual to look at here at work but you can use a test light to check it out yourself. You want something that is powered only when the ignition is on so the fogs dont get left on by accident when you shut down the vehicle. The IG relay slot was just an easy choice for power for those that dont have that option.

I'll take a pic when I get home for you.. I did it right in the fuse box (under the hood) with abuot 1.5" of wire and a male and female spade connector.

hardest part was getting the length of the wire just right.

Here you go... the top part is connecting to the relay, the bottom is a male spade connector pushed into a connection that is switched by the ignition. This way, there is no chance of leaving the fog lights on by accident, like with some other methods I've seen on here. The wire sits down between those other 2 relays.

The problem with that setup is that i have a relay where you have that wire connection......i believe its a ignition relay or something of that nature

Its an 07 Sport.

Nytefog, look at the bottom of your lid and it will tell you what that relay is. I also have the 115vac, and I'm not sure what IG is, and we both have an 07.

ON the cover for the fuse area the relay is labeled as IG. I think this is ignition....

iirc it has something to do with the seat heaters on the Limited's. You should be able to tap into any of the four headlamp fuses.

The green light on the dash turns on when I turn the fog lights on regardless of the headlights.

I got it! I tapped into the fuse that say "heater No. 2". Fog lights come on with out the head lights and with the head lights. They also turn off when the vehicle turns off!

Supid mistake.....the problem when using that fuse is that the fogs only come when the hvac is on. ooops......sorrry...

Any word on an alternative location instead of the IG location?
