Fog light troubles

So I have a 00 sr5 and when I need some help with my fog lights.. when i got the car the fog lights didnt work at all but when i opened them up and looked at them it was just the bulbs that were burnt out, so i got new bulbs and they worked perfectly again..

then not even 2 weeks later the fog light on the passenger side went out and i checked and it is not the bulb! I dont have much knowledge in wiring and electronics so if anyone could help me out with this proble id appreciate it!

The wires that run to the lamps get old and brittle. They tend to break/fracture where they are bent at a 90-degree angle, or near where the wires enter the molex connector. I've had to fix mine a few times, and one still only works intermittently. Best to replace the wires as far back as you can with high quality stuff, protected by wire loom.

okay thanks, how far back is it even possible to go? and what steps do you have to take to replace them? meaning am i gonna get shocked if i dont do it right haha

I had a 3rd gen briefly and had the same problem, the wires break. Theres like a plastic sleeve around the wires, cut it completely off and follow it up about a foot and the wires that are away from the ground/dirt/water should be fine, just cut it and splice in a new 14gauge wire or so.

what about the recepter (idk what its called) that plugs into the fixture? it looks old should that be replaced as well?
