Fog lights with parking lights mod???

I have seen mods to use your fog lights as DRL's and I have seen mods for using your fog lights with your high beams, but what I am looking for is to be able to use my fog lights with my parking lights. I've done several searches and can't find anything on how to have my fog lights come on with my parking lights (no headlights) but still come on with my headlights and go off with my high beams. Does anyone know what I need to do? I guess I would be alright if I could get them to go on with my parking lights even if they stayed on with my brights, but ideally I would like them to still go off with my high beams. My old Grand Cherokee had this set up and I liked it....fog light on/off switch, parking lights with fogs, headlights with fogs, fogs off with brights. If anyone could steer me in the right direction I would greatly appreciate it.

Awesome! Thanks, J.A.!

Do you happen to know if the auto-off feature will still work if I do only part one of the mod?

What I'm thinking of doing differently than your mod, is run the jumper from the bent relay pin to the parking light fuse. If I were to do that, would the fogs still go on and off using the factory switch AND run with the parking lights, headlights, and off for the brights? I guess the only thing I would like to do differently is not to have them on all the time when the ignition is on but rather just with the parking lights and headlights when the fog switch is turned on. Does that make sense? Would I still just to part one of you mod?

this seems easy enough to do....it seems though as if this will make the fog lights work just anytime the car is on(minus the high beams)? so will the auto off feature work? if i get a chance ill try this out tonight and see what happens.

Call me and let me know how it works....

whipped this out tonight. easy mod. basically anytime the car is on you can turn the fogs on with or without the parking lights. but if the car is off the fogs do not work at all. the auto off feature still works and you can control it fully with the fog light switch.
i made a 2nd wire greg if you need it...one of these days we can meet up for lunch and put it in.

Yes, Auto-Off feature is retained. You could run the wire to the parking lamp fuse, I did that on my 1999, but I believe that for the 4th gen, iirc, that that particular fuse is in the interior fuse box.

The way I describe to do it, you have additional functionality...fogs can be on when the parking lamps are off. If you dont want them on till the parking lamps are on then simply dont turn the fog switch till you turn on the parking lamps.

What is cool about this is that you can have the fogs on (without parking lamps) and the Nav screen staying in daytime mode. If you wired the fogs to the parking circuit, then when you turn the parking lamps on (just to be able to turn on the fogs) the Nav screen goes into night mode, but you might want to do this during the day.

So what'd you have to wire for this?

just bent the prong on the fog light relay and ran a short 14awg wire to a constant power. all in all 10min job. im mixed on it for now but since i dont use my fogs that much ill prob keep it this way for now

I did a little re-mod on JA's suggestion. I got power to the FOGS from the parking lights behind the headlamps. This way, I can run FOGS with parking lights, high-beams or lows, and yet in the daytime, no FOGS, just DRL's

I finally got around to doing this mod last night and it is great...the only down side is when I bent the pin on the relay, it snapped right off..had to solder it back on..btw, a new relay is 70 bucks.

just a quick update...I received my new relay from rockauto.com in just a few days, so shipping was quick. I bent the pin and it did not snap, put in the new relay and rewired it to connect to the parking light so that the parking lights need to be on for the fogs to come on..I'm very pleased with the results!

I just did part 1 of this mod from the JA webpage. It took me about 5 mins to do it. I was very careful not to break the prong on the relay.

It worked like a charm. Now I can have just park lights and fogs!!!

I know this thread is a little old, but question. Did you t-tap the prong to the parking light wire? I too would like the fogs to come on with the park lights as I already have the DRLs on when my light switch is off.
