Hey Gang,

Nearly 12 months later and just got it finished! Took a bone-stock 2002 4Runner Sport Edition and built her to below specs. ( I haven’t even taken her off pavement yet) Currently stands w/ 163K Miles. I am not original owner but this rig had a clean Car Fax when I bought it and after careful inspection it appears clean and accident free. History shows Arizona and California owner history and there is no rust.
This rig was done professionally and done RIGHT by Concept Motorsports, Grass Valley.
Sound System and Alarm by Jim Inman and his Team @ Electronic Solutions, Grass Valley.

The good news = Build turned out amazing
The bad news = It wasn't cheap
The worse news = Might consider letting this one go to build a Tundra

Rack/Lighting Questions

Thanks everyone for the positive feedback...

Here are a few shots of how the rack is currently wired. This is the temporary set up. Rack comes off next week and we are adding two feet to support the front of rack near sunroof location. Also we are adding a removable section over sun roof that can provide extra cargo space when desired. Finally the rack is getting powder coated once all this is done. We will then re-wire everything with appropriate shrink wire wrap so it's a finished product. We are also toying with the idea of corner LED's to add range to the flood patttern.

All the wiring is inside the rack. Everything exits the rear of the rack and is connected through just one plug. This provides an easy option if the rack needs to be quickly removed for some unforseen reason. There is a small port drilled into the factory rail system where you can see the wires enter the cabin. Wires run under headliner to B pillar and then over to tranny column where you will see we mounted 3 switches to operate (frront/rear/sides). A fourth switch is going into this same location to run the bumber mounted HID's. Depending on what we add for corner lights we may need to consolidate or add switching. Will keep posting details as we go along, and will attempt some night shots once we get everything put back in place next week. Enjoy

Any progress on this? I like how this is turning out. I'd like to see more details. What front skid plate is that? I like how your roof rack lights are wired. It's kind of like how I wired my license plate light through my tube bumper to my tire carrier.

I cannot justify the price of an off-road bumper (until I rear-end someone, perhaps) but I would love to see if I could do something similar with my stock bumper/grill.

What's the intent of your build? Do you just want a neat looking daily driver, or is this being purpose built? Either way, I really like the way you're going. It would appear you have expensive taste, and it's quite literally paying off.

What brand are the lights you're running?

What else do you have planned for the future?

I personally think that FN Wheels are the best looking 4R wheel you can run. FN Wheels I am running the Konig Six Shooters in Gun Metal

Intent = Very capable and well mannered driver that stands out. Living near tahoe and addicted to almost every outdoor activity I choose a M+S for more compliance. I use this rig as a rolling sports locker for whatever is on the list that day (ski, bike, paddle, etc)

Lights = Zues, my builder Joe is a desert racer/builder and has the hook up on these. His phone # is at top of my thread. Way better price point than what you typically find for this quality. The rig is stupid bright and is just about capable of inflicting sunburn on anyone who passes in front of it. Joe covered the full spectrum with a flood up top, spots behind the grill, HID HI/LO conversion to the headlights, and HID Pencil Beams in the bumper. The rack sides are flood pattern that cast out to meet with the front beams so there are no fade or dark spots in the transition from front to side light. The rear rack light is a spot light and the "anti-tailgater" button is endless entertainment.

Future = More Lights..... Just kidding (I gave some tweaker a heart attack @ 4a.m. the other morning while he was walking aimlessly through our neighborhood. Not sure if he mistook me for a cop or "Close Encounters of the 3rd Kind". Probably the later) We just did external tranny cooler, K&N Filter and Magnaflows. Would like a new set of plugs and wires next (NGK??? Thoughts?). Although tempting, I don't think a supercharger is in the cards. I have a few other rides that quell my power/speed addiction so I think I will save the funds for a treatment to the vehicles backside. Aftermarket rear bumper, wheel caddy, etc. so I can delete the rear tow etc.
