I believe the grounding requires you to tap in at teh dome light. Tried to do the same on teh Camry and went crazy trying to find the right wires....was advised to make connections at the dome light -- voila, it worked.

An alternaitve is to tap into the running boards -- not exactly the same, but the connections are much easier to get to.

Which LEDs are you using?

This is what it looks like lighting up the foot wells

The dome supervision is a negative trigger wire

So you gonna need a relay

The dome supervision wire can be found

Plug to right of fuses
pin 8
White

That's a 2005 model.. let me know what year yours is.. and I'll get you the correct wiring..

hmmm I don't understand why my posts are not showing up

Here is my foot wells

Your wire is:
Dome supervision

White
Plug to the right of Fuse box
pin 8

for a 2005 4runner

Let me know if you got a question and I can help you

MINE - 05 LIMITED

^^^^^ I have no idea what's that mean ^^^^^

where is it located?? can you take some pictures?

thank you kindly

Hey is there anyway you can contol it on the dome light AND have it turn on with a switch when the dome light is off?

Why not just plug it into your cigerette lighter? Mine is plugged into the cigerette lighter but it has on/off button plus several features switch on it. And yes it's LED tube light. ;):

Otter would it be possible for you to take and post pics of whwre you have the LED's mounted? Looks great.

Thanks

These aren't LED's, These are Ultrabright Neon tubes by Redline, Quest Industries

Ok,

I'll get some pictures by next week of the neon placement

and where the dome supervision is.

If you want this to work right, you need a relay.

Negative trigger means that the wire is hot when the light isn't on. And when the light is on, it becomes a ground.

You need a relay and inline fuse to:
A) make the dome supervision turn on the relay which turns on the neon/LED
B) Prevent wiring from melting if the neons accidentally draw to much power

Yes, you can have a seperate switch that can turn the neon/LED on and off. What you need to do is diode isolate the wire that you feed the neon with postive 12 volts and the wire that comes off the relay for 12 volts.

I'll draw you a diagram.

and post it

honestly, I'm having trouble tracking these lights down now. They are rare and best buy doesn't even carry them anymore.

You can try searching around online to find these.

These are different from neons because they are ultrabrights... and they really are ultra bright!

Is there a circuit in the fuse box that you could tap into ? I just used one of those add-a-circuit deals and plugged it into the ACC fuse for my sat radio. I don't know the fusebox layout, but maybe you could do that - connect the hot wire from the new circuit to the domelight fuse? That way it'll only come on when you want it to, and you'll just have to find a ground point near the light/LED.

I want mine to be completly hidden! Also not take up my cig lighter.

i was thinking of wiring my lights to my corner lights so when at night i need to turn on my headlights, it will turn on my lights inside also. but i'm not sure if it'll work. because the plug has a fuse in it also so i'm not sure what to do with that.

I can help you with that.... or at least explain something that may help you. When you turn your headlights on it turns a relay on so you do not have to run a huge power cord to your switch and then to the device. Sooooo get another relay.... and run that same switch wire your parking lights run off of to the new neon relay. I don't know if anyone will understand that its hard unless i draw it on a diagram, sorry about that. I had them run like this on my firebird.

here is the current settings for the lights. 2 LED tube light runs into this on/off+switch button. after that, ANOTHER wire runs to the cigerette lighter which it has the fuse inside the plug. SO! i should cut my wire from the switch button and the cigerette lighter plug-in? i'm not very a electrical person but i do wire LEDs to my corner lights. which all i need was wire from the corner lights to a resistor then the LED bulb. that's about it. but a diagram would help. thanks!

http://synergy.sager.com/ProductPDFs/relays.pdf Go there!! It will explain relays and gives you the answer to world peace! Also it makes all the women in the world want you and only you! Once you read it then tell me if you can get it from there!! Sorry I wasnt too clear!!! :bash: Hope that helps!!! The diagram at the bottom of the first page is like your relays. The first page is all you need to really pay attention to!

I don't understand the need for a relay in this application if you tap into the correct switching circuit. LEDs don't require a huge amount of current or anything, so you won't have to run a "huge power cord" to your switch anyway. The guage wire would probably be the same as if you didn't have a relay. Obviously you will wire in a fuse or breaker of some kind. Just seems like more wiring than what is really needed for this particular application. Look into that, if you haven't already.
