Sorry to make my first post on your forum a "FOR SALE" post, but I figured the truck should go to someone who appreciates it and/or could put some love into her.

I bought this truck from Boulder Toyota in 98 when it had 40k on her. Since then she and I have taken many trips, but never anywhere crazier than dirt roads.

Such a reliable machine, but I need to let it go to get the wifey a better ride now that we have a little one in the house. My original plan was to keep her and restore her over time, but I just dont have the money or the time right now so the truck is taking up a valuable space in back.

ENGINE/Mechanical
3.4L manual 5 speed, timing belt done at 118k along with thermostat and waterpump
Clutch was replaced at 108k
k&n cone air filter (sounds cool and does seem to get more air into the engine)

Interior - Grey Cloth
Crack in the passenger dash due to sun exposure
Glove compartment will not unlock, and isnt functional
The car has been in use for 14 years, so there is some wear and tear. There is a slight tear on the drivers seat near the door, but the interior is in decent shape with only scuff marks and a few pieces of sun damage.

JL 3400 amplifier
JL 12" sub
sounds amazing (might pull this out before selling , but might keep it in if the price is right)

Tires do need to be replaced , they are thin and the drivers side front tire does not hold air well.

Body is straight and never hit. The car has seen a lot of colorado sun and the clearcoat is peeling. Slight rust on front bumper. Rear tailgate does have rust but it is functional.

The body does have some chipping and scratching.

Im interested in selling the car, and im also interested to see what people think the car is worth. Your help and advice is appreciated and if there are other forums where you think the car might get some attention it would be appreciated if you could pass along the info.

As I am in the market for a 4Runner and having just sold my old truck, allow me to provide you with some feedback regarding posting a vehicle for sale.

Price: You gotta do your homework and have a number in mind. You can't expect to post it for sale and state, "lemme know what you think it is worth." All you're asking for is people to shoot your lowball offers and waste your time. Take time to use Kelly Blue Book, Edmunds, NADA, and Black Book to give you a ballpark of worth.

Pics: Very, very few people are gonna buy something as expensive as a vehicle without seeing pictures. Do yourself a favor and thoroughly clean your truck and then take pics of it. Walk around the entire exterior and capture it from every angle. Take closeups of things of import (damage, mods, etc.). Show the interior, to include worn items.

Options: You can't expect a proper valuation of a vehicle without knowing what options it has from the factory. Check the 4Runner History and find out what you've got, then list them accordingly. Things like a Rear Diff Lock can make or break a sale. Also, is it a Base, SR5, or Limited? Simply put, do your homework!!

Year: This should be obvious, but what friggin' year is the truck? Stating "3rd Gen" doesn't cut it.

Intangibles: Are you a non-smoker? Do you have receipts/paperwork to prove the service history? Do you do your own maintenance or take it to a private mechanic or dealership? Did you haul a flock of your wife's poodles in the back? Was it garaged or constantly parked outside? Did you use it to carry mulch and cow dung around? What I'm saying is, paint an accurate picture of your ownership so that people know what to expect.

CarFax: Not a necessity, but dropping $40 to have a copy available for potential buyers to review is a plus.

PreSale Inspection: If you're gonna want serious money, then you need to know what condition the truck is in. This protects you as a seller and also provides knowledge for the buyer. Being honest about a vehicles needs goes a long way to making a nice, smooth transaction. Again, this can be done for anywhere for $50 - $100 by a mechanic/shop that you trust.

Surely I'm forgetting something, but this should cover the bases pretty well. Just so you know I'm not blowing smoke, I've sold my last 4 vehicles on craigslist and ALL have sold within 24hrs. Sorry if this sounds like a rant, but I'm tired of seeing just plain horrible For Sale ads.

$4000 unseen considering sun damage to the paint and interior,the rust and a few other listed issues but the mileage isn't bad and it's a 5 speed.

Does it have the rear locker?

I might be wrong but I thought the only 4runners that were 2wd and a 5spd where the 4 cylinder ones.
