Q) why do you care - do you have insurance? I should cover removal and replacement of the glass. You don't have to lift a finga.

It sounds like broken glass is a common issue for you. Might I suggest you move, or stop parking your truck in the middle of a high crime area?patau13 said:I've never had insurance that covers broken glass.

Or perhaps you could turn that booming stereo of yours down when you drive through an area where people will take notice and follow you until you park so they can steal your goodies.

Wow. I'd recommend tweaking your insurance policy or shop around for a different company if you are worried about things like that: you could be getting screwed.
ie: I've had 3 broken windshields which were covered 100% and a shattered side window which was completely covered after my $500 deductable was paid. (all against my jeep not the 4R)

I am one of those that have posted pics of my doors dynamat'd and I have also had my driver window broken. Parked in my driveway next to my roommates girlfriends car in the most A-typical suburb where the only other crime is a stolen newspaper. I didn't bother calling the insurance company as I have a $500 deduct, picked up the required material from the stealer (glass, mounts, side pillar trim) and fixed it myself in a less than a day.
As to answer what I would do if it happened again. Feel out the factory opening to the window area, cut out that exact area with a blade and repair the window again. Really not that hard to do by the way. Vacuuming up the glass took the longest. Then patch right over the hole with dynamat again.
Nothing was taken out of my truck. For some reason, the tint on my window deterred them from the extra work of knocking out the rest of the glass. The tint held the glass in place except at the point of impact. Where as the other car did not have tint, and the glass exploded on impact as is typical with temper glass. The thief's helped them self to her Ipod and other stereo material that they could grab. Her insurance took a day to process and 3 days at the dealer before she got her car back. Meanwhile I was driving again the same day.
I guess my philosophy is to not worry about the little stuff
