Subscribed for later. LOL I've heard that about Land Rover...expensive to buy, expensive to own!
 
Ive been on TFL for a little while, they are sort of corny, but their reviews are REAL...and not 'ive had this vehicle for two hours...' they picked the first LR and it threw a warning code within the first 150 miles. they brought it back and LR couldnt fix it. they picked up a second, and LR kilt it simply trying to install a wench. this is their third, and it keeps throwing codes at them, suspension, camera, etc.

Every reviewer on every channel seems to throw the exact same complaint "the Toyo is old/dated/needs an update badly..." except for every GM, Ford, Jeep, Chry, Fiat, etc vehicle you can come up with, all die right at the warranty-just-ended mark.

Toyotas ARE dated, they ARE old feeling, they ARE uninspiring...and as you drive them well into the 150-250k mile range, you can proudly say you got your money's worth out of them....surely. Toyota says to us owners we apologize for giving you a vehicle that we have made to run to perfection. it wont attract supermodels to your driveway, but you'll be able to always give them a ride to the store...in any weather.

And for those who look forward to the Bronco.......my brother’s 2019 Raptor is back in the service bay because it randomly engages 4wd and grinds. This is the 2nd time that it has done this...fixed first time about 1 year ago...now happening again.

I frequently see/hear people talk about the improvement in Ford quality, but stories like this as well as many others about F-150 transmissions slipping at 50k, interior rattles and wear before 20k, random overheating, warped brakes and rotors at 15k, etc. etc. make me wonder what parallel universe the "Ford quality is good" people live in.
 
I have a 4th gen V8 that I do not off road, but having one capable of doing so if I wanted/needed to is a plus for me. If I were Toyota and were planning a 6th gen I would have someone technical assigned to a site like this to monitor comments/complaints/problem frequency, etc. as plans were made for the new vehicle.
Some things are not going to be negotiable, what ever engine is selected has to meet a certain level of exhaust emissions and maybe there are a couple of other must do's, but other than that I think giving purchasers the ability to spec their own vehicle within the available options would be a big plus and not have to take a "package" to get a specific item.
I'm not into a lot of electronic gizmo's just because other makers offer them to try and cover over their incapabilities in other areas. The current 4Runner is a mature product that could use a few refinements but not "glitz", rather real improvements to an already reliable/durable/capable vehicle.
 
My take-away from that comparison video, is when the old man says, "old tech is proven tech". Tells me everything I need to know right there.

He has a silver 2006 4 door Tundra. Low miles, mint.
People try to buy it off of him weekly, including me.
They also have a new Yukon Denali XL, actually their second, first one got bought back on the lemon law after numerous issues. This one has been nothing but trouble as well. Hvac computer failed, electrical issue everywhere.
The tail light went out and they could not believe what the dealer wanted to replace it, they finally got it covered under warranty. The dealer tried to say it was normal wear and tear and not covered under their warranty.

Beautiful suv but nothing but trouble.

The tundra driving husband begged her to get a Honda pilot touring at half the cost of the Yukon to no avail.

Pilots are nice and a good choice.

They could also get a GX for a lot less than that Yukon....

GX and Yukon are not a very good comparison. The LX/ LC would be the comparison. Yukon is more full sized "truck" and the GX is more mid sized "Truck". Doubt I would buy the GX again over the Yukon. But the GX fits us better now.

Yup. Ford comes out with an all-new redesigned F-150 about as often as I change underpants. There simply isn't enough time for adequate product testing when you come out with a redesign or major refresh every few years. The product testers are the people who actually buy the vehicles. I honestly liked the F-150 even better than the 4Runner I bought, but Ford's spotty reliability was a real turnoff. It was definitely a factor in why I chose a 4Runner.
 
Alas.... The 4runner was pretty much the last "analog" vehicle. We will never have another one without automatic braking and driving aids..

Very sad. Ill hold onto this 2019 for as log as i can.
 
Neighbor bought a white Defender when it first came out.

Now it's silver.

Apparently he got it through a lemon dispute when the first one crapped out.

Maybe it got one of those HotWheels paint that changes color when it touches water? :D
