For Those Who Desire the V8 for the 5th Generation

Yep, and 2 more now, and still none. I knew they wouldn't because if people wanted one, they'd buy a Lexus V8 version.
I kinda hoped someone on here (unless I didn't see it) did a Lexus V8 Swap into their 5th gen 4Runner.

I love my '14 sr5 prem. but I DO miss my '05 V8!
I've had '86, fully mod'd out, 94v6, 2000 Sport TRD Supercharged, '05, and now my '14.
Besides the all too common cracked exhaust manifold in the v8's from the 4th gen era, I loved the v8.

I have a 2013 SR5, own it, and plan on keeping it forever. Have been trying to source a 2010-2013 v8 from a Lexus for some time now with some engine schematics on the mounting points, I'm pretty sure it can definitely be done..also a bit sad noone has done it yet but maybe I'll be the first some day. Although the more I look at the GX460 and 470 odds are i'll trade up!

If everyone hasn't got it yet, Toyota is going electric, whether hybrid or full electric, one or the other. Or maybe even fuel cell, but not in a 4Runner.

I would love a V8 in my 5th gen 4 Runner Trail!
From the factory would be wonderful.

Many moons ago I had ’79 Cherokee. It was not able to win a race with its own exhaust.
The quadratrac was failing.
First I installed my 454 punched out to 468CID. My cam design, shaved 0.019 off the deck, 0.038 off the heads, changed all the standard stuff, ran an Edelbrock carb, with side by side jets, metering rods, ad springs set to my engine.
Then the drive-train was mostly thrown away. 442 to 308s, ran Ford fluid rather than the Chevy fluid.
Excellent gas mileage, if I could not get over the hill, I would push it out of the way.
Thinking about modifying my 4 Runner. There is enough room for a BB. Got to check if the drive-train will handle it.

An electric 4runner? Not for me. I have not seen even one power station or battery charger where we go. Most of the time, no cell service either.

^This! I can always take an extra container or two of gas if I know I'm heading into a really remote area. Haven't figured out how to take any extra electricity along on those rides.

I was wrong about the electric 4Runner (happy). But not sure if the turbo 2.7/4 is the answer either, but if it's as reliable as the old 22RE in the pickup it will be a winner.
