For those with tank filling issues...

My '01 would periodically seem tough to fill like some of yours where you've got to hold the handle part-way out, sometimes at an angle and whatever you can to slowly fill.

I noticed at a particular station that sometime mine would work just fine (fully inserted and pull handle all the way in) and others not.

Finally I figured out what the difference was and it might help some of you.

I noticed this station was on a slight, very slight, hill and while I'm sure they attempted to level the driveway, this one clearly has an angle to it.

I noticed when I park with the gas inlet facing towards the higher part of the slope I have fill issues as above yet when I park facing the otherway (so the slant on the ground goes from the right side of the vehicle to the left side), i have zero fill issues and can hold the handle all the way down for a faster fill.

So if you've got a slope to work with, park with the fill side lower than the otherside, if possible of course.

Don't know why I didn't notice this earlier yet that seems to make all the difference in my fills and now I go to the same place whenever I can. Luck all. :cowboy:

I'm going to start carrying a block around with me to park on when I fill up. I'll show them gas pumpers. haha. Sucks we cant pump our own gas in Oregon yet

Is this mostly an issue with 99 and newer models? Perhaps I’m lucky as my 96 has no issues whatsoever filling up

Thanks for posting your observation. However I have no issues in filling my 00. Could it be it's mostly flat terrain were I am? How steep of an incline are you referring to?

Let's see, its not a big station, 6 rows of stations, I'd say it drops 2-3 feet from one end to the other, not really noticeable until you look from one end to the other then you notice it's not level because the whole thing is on a hill, it's flat just not level.

I found out NJ has the same rules last summer, tried getting out of vehicle to pump and got stopped by an attendant, major no-no there too!

Only people that can pump our own gas in Oregon are people that have motorcycles. They freak out and say it's against the law. haha. I actually had some gas nerd try to pump gas on my harley and I told him to step away or it would be bad for him. haha
