This happened a month and a half ago, but i thought i'd share my experiences...

i caught a root, the size of my thumb on my front right tire. it completely shredded the sidewall. the hole was so big i could put my fist through it easily. scared the crap out of me, and the old, worn out, jeep guys that were sitting at the top of daniel pounding liquor. hahaha

I had no spare, and had to track one down. found a fellow toyota owner that had a spare from an 80's toyota, it fit, but had a trailer tire on it. talk about a long way down the trail (since i was at the top of daniel at uwharrie...

short of the long, im not getting those tires ever again unless they come in E sidewalls.

I have since gone to bfg all terrain 35's and they do almost as good.

Look into sigma Mud Terrain radials, mine are an E-rated LT, plus at $150 - $180/tire not bad on the wallet in the end.

Keyword = sidewall. you really think what you replaced the geo with has a better chance at surviving a root and sidewall contact ???? I bet even if it was a e rated tire, this still would have happened.
The strongest production tire made is the toyo open country m/t and i still have ripped a sidewall on them on rocks in Baja.
Lets just chalk this one up to driver error and not bash a tire company. Anything sharp will penetrate a sidewall.

i bet an E tire would have survived. i wasnt asking you to critique me. I was sharing an occurrence. did I bash Yoko? NOPE. read my friend. READ.

Any sidewall will tear under the right circumstances.
Here is a picture of a Yoko MT. It's a little confusing but it is looking down on the tire coming up a rock and the sidewall is folded over. No hole.
