Hey just wondering if anyone has ever made a formal invitation to invite other 4runner owners to come to the site? I was thinking something anyone could print off at home to stick on some windows of some runners around town..

If there hasn't been one made up maybe its time to make one up..

are you a former jeep owner or something???? That is the exact same reason why I didnt by a jeep. Well.......that and the durability. You start making invites and then before you know it you will see 200 new threads of people saying check out this top gear video of the hilux. I like to stay exclusive...

I get what you're saying and I think in some cases it's a good idea... maybe for smaller forums that don't have a lot of activity.
This forum has a lot of activity even though a lot don't post. Ever notice the number of members at the bottom of the page?
I think if people are 'into' their 4runners and take notice of other 4runners around them they'd notice the T4R.org decal on your truck. Don't have one?? Order one from Momo. It's a good way to spread the word of the forum.

Yeah I get the whole jeep thing.. Jeeps are big into themselves but I see just as many runners as I do jeeps. But the only runners I would put the invitations on is the ones that are tricked out for off roading. Those are few and far between and the other not tricked out runners could get brought in by the stickers.

hahahahaha. I take it you have never been over to the FJ forum. Lots of built rigs and I will bet my completely bone stock 3rd gen has seen more trail time and its only been on the trail once so far. A built rig with no trail time is what is called in the industry..... a mall crawler .

I believe there are also guys over there who put the brush clipper mod in there rigs. Im pretty sure one guy posted evidence of himself getting out of his rig to clip the brush so it wouldnt rub up against there rig. Could have been 80 guy but I dont remember what rig it was.

So if the 3rd gen is already "tricked out" for wheeling its one of two things, they either know about the forums or know about it and want nothing to do with it. Either way its a waste of time in my opinion.

If you do make the invites, more power to ya. Ill be laughing over on pirate as you get flamed for putting an invite on the rig of one of their members.

I'd have to agree there. Honestly, my 4runner is not tricked out and never will be. I don't use it for off roading so I really have no need to do any of that and if I came out and noticed someone touched it, I'd be pissed.

well the reason I was wondering was a while back Wilson and I found a monster of a 4runner. This thing was awesome sas, custom everything, rattle canned to the max with flat black paint, custom trail pen stripes, dents and dings. I thought ok this guy knows his runner and def uses it for offroading. So I check on here to see if he is on here. No luck, so I left him a note with an invite to the site and my number saying lets go wheeling. Keep in mind that this is on an army base and this guy is an officer. Meaning he probably has that army mentality that makes him not want to hang out with some other soldier outside of work. Esp when the note is scribbled on the back of an oregon trail map with a pencil that was dull enough to look like it was writen with a gray crayon. Anyways what I am gettin at is that if there was a more formal invite for the site maybe him and other people would be more willing to look into the site...

And yeah idc about gettin flamed on this site or any other.. If you cant take a good flaming then you shouldnt be on a forum..

Here is a pic of the sas'd runner we found.. These are the kind of people who would get an invite. No mall crawlers!! they get on my nerves with their pretty boy trucks..

Actually this topic is brought up once or twice a year. At one point it was a very lengthy thread. I believe the one concept that was considered seriously was a card with the T4R logo with lines on the back to put your username and a few words on how a bad *ss Runner like theirs should join. Then it was decided that just like all the other flyers that get put on windsheilds in parking lots would end up on the asphalt in the parking lot. So didnt want the bad publicity for the sight by littering.

I think the best thing is to hang out see if you can spot the owner and give a personal invite and talk to them about their rig etc. Also the 4Runner wave thing someone else started is kind of cool.

this has been spoken many times, as much as i love to do it, many people just dont give a flying ****,

Let a new member put 2 cents in. this forum is why i bought a 3rd gen 4runner so i say the more, the better. somtimes i do feel like this is a 4x4 only forum though. just think guys, how many vendors are in business because of 4 runners. i know what bam is talking about with the jeep thing, when i had my harley every time i met a bike on the road i got the wave. you know arm down to the side ''biker wave''. i hated that crap i just started flippin them off
because i knew a real biker wouldnt do that. jeeps and harleys are a symbol and i doubt 4 runners will be . we know why we buy them their bulletproof, sexy, offroading beast. why would anyone buy a 4 banger jeep wrangler? cause they dont ride their harley in the rain. i hate trailer queens and mall queens. ride it, drive it, break it, get drunk fixin it, taste you moter oil its better than 90w get blood on your knuckles and grease in your hair. thats whats its about.

I can't believe how full of $hit some of you are! Seriously???
Who cares if we have 200 new forum members?? The more the better in my opinion! The next time you're on here trying to find out why your rig is doing this "weird noise", and want a quick answer......you might want to re-think that "exclusiveness", because having more members means more replies, and hopefully an answer to your problem!

Also, if buddy doesn't want his paint mangled with scratches....what's the big deal??? Some people daily drive these things....and don't want to show up to the office with a rig that looks like it's come from the movie Deliverence. I see nothing wrong with taking your rigs into rough terrain, but I'm willing to bet you have a nicer rig or car that you keep prestine for regular duties......some folks don't have that much disposable income. I can't speak for everybody...but my rig is my daily driver. If I break a CV axle, LBJ, or what have you, I'm walking to work....and it's a 35km hike! At the end of the day, who cares if you Rock Crawl or Mall Crawl??? Just as long as you do it in a 4Runner....you're alright in my books!

As for flippin off people for wavin at you.......I hope you're kidding. That's just ignorant! I hope that guy turns around, follows you home and kicks your a$$ for being such a ****.

Last time I checked, this site is called T4R.ORG.....not 4X4.ORG! If you want to see well built rigs, that only go off-road....go to Pirate or IH8MUD....Most folks on here are pretty friendly, and don't spend their time bashing people for driving a clean rig! I'd like to thank the 0.P T4R4LIFE and Pikeman for being classy about their posts....and hope more of you can take a page from their books.......

Sincerely,

Fightman80....aka...Mall Crawler.

Yeah, I am going to second fightman's comment about you being an ignorant ****. 90+% of bikers I pass wave back at me (or wave to me first). You might want to reevaluate your understanding of a REAL biker, cause you are not it. It's just a small sign of respect. The only guys I see that don't wave, are teenage squids on crotch rockets, and a small percentage of older guys on Harley's. I guess you have 2 sets of ****'s from the opposite sides of the **** spectrum. The squids you can excuse because they are young and stupid, but the older guys on harley's have no excuse. It's just pathetic.

What if another 4runner owner waves at you, trying to compliment your rig perhaps. You going to give them a little F-you? God forbid I run into you on the road after having helped you by contributing to this forum. I am sure glad the vast majority of people here aren't like that.

Anyway, to the OP, I am not against invitations, but I would rather not have official ones for the forum, just my opinion. I think you should just write a note or something, introduce yourself and the context of why you are leaving the note (otherwise it'll just look like an advertisement). I like the T4R.ORG stickers, but the implications of someone forgetting it is ".org" and not ".com" is what keeps it off my truck.:barf:

Thank you.....I thought I was the only one thinking it. People always stop and ask me about my runner and if I see a nice one i'd leave and invite card or something. More friendly people would be a nice addition
