I have some friends overseas and they are talking about the Toyota Fortuner.
Is it the same size of the 4R? Is it a 4R with a newer skin? Some said it resemble more a Lexus Rx 330.

Somebody has some info they want to share?

What do you guys know about it?

Thanks?

I saw the previous threads.
I was more on the side of how close is that truck to the 4runner itself.

Well, here is a little table comparing some measurements:

Fortuner 4Runner Rav4 06 Highlander
Length 184.8 189.2 181.1 184.6
Width 72.4 75.2 73.0 71.9
Height 72.8 71.1 68.7 68.3
Wheelbase 108.3 109.8 104.7 106.9
Track Front 60.6 62.0 61.4 62.0
Track Rear 60.6 62.0 61.4 61.2

Looking at that table it seems that the Fortuner is closer to the 4R than anything else. In fact real close. Again I just wonder why Toyota would make such similar cars.

Now, most of the info says the fortuner comes with a 2.5 Diesel or a 2.7 VVT 4cyl gas.
But I found a reliable source that shows a Fortuner with the 4.0 L V6 VVt of the 4runner in several countries.

On an extra note the Fortuner also have a 4lo transfer case that no Rav, lexusRx or Highlander have.

I believe the Fortuner maybe just a redesigned 4R for other markets. But there are some nice lines in that model that I would not mind in the 4R.

Just sharing.

The Toyota Fortuner is part of the Toyota IMV project for third world countries mainly.

It's based on the tough-as-nails, bare bones Toyota Hilux. The Hilux is the heavy duty version of the Tacoma.

So, even though the body may look stylish, it's designed for rough third world country abuse.
