I would never put anything on my truck that had risks of messing up the paint. That sucks for those of you who experienced this the hard way.

Ditto! That is why I had Venture Shield or a clear vinyl protection put on mine! It has NO UV protection which is good so all the paint fades at the same time as the non protected paint. It's kinda expensive but chips out of the front end are the thing of the past!
