Found new compartment

Well this is a compartment I had never known about both on my 98 and now on my 99. Its the little one under the center console but above the main one. Most of you probably already knew about this. The best thing is that I guess none of the previous owners had known about it either cause the lining was still wrapped in a plastic and looks new. I love this feature in my sequoia and now in my 4runner.

i didnt figure that one out myself for like a week after i bought my truck. it is deff a good place to keep small items.

I'm glad I'm not the only one, it took me about 2-3 months before I found mine.

It's actually the lid to your center console, if you lift up on it without pressing in on the release button it will open for you. Also has a handy change organizer.

It must not be on my '96....

Yeah I "accidently" found it a week after I got my car. I pulled up on the center console and thought I freakin broke it.

Of course on closer inspection it was a place to put loose change.

haha yeah i opened my center console and saw that there looked like room where a small storage spot might be. took me awhile (5 mins) to figure out how to open the thing without breaking it. but im definitely happy with the find.

I have two compartments in my center console/armrest. One is deep and the top one is shallow. Mine is a 2001 SR5. I keep a pad of paper, pens and junk in the upper one. I went and looked and yes it also has slots for coins. Never noticed that before since everything else was wedged in there.

I think this is only on the 99+ Center console

You are right... my 98 does not have it but my MIL's 99 has it. I want to swap interiors with her, but I don't think she would go for that.

I have been looking for a 99+ console and ebrake. I am wanting to do the conversion so I have real cup holders. I mainly use my 4Runner for road trips I despise the cup holders in the dash. They used to be on ebay for about $40-$80. now i don't see them and when there are any they want over $100.00.

I also didn't find that for a while, actually a friend found it one day. But I had always driven p/u's with the bench, so I never had a center console before. Mine is a deicated wallet spot, first thing I do is stash the wallet right in there.

That little compartment is another nice ergonomic upgrade on the '99s.

Cupholders relocation, multi power outlets (even one by the rear hatch),better headlights, auto up/down front windows and even the headrest holders built into the rear seats when down adds up to a lot of nice upgrades and was worth ditching my '97 after a year.

I HAVNT LOOKED FOR MINE BUT I JUST WANTED TO SEE IF U GUYS KNEW ABOUT THE SECRET COMPARTMENT INSIDE OF THE GLOVE BOX?

OPEN YOUR GLOVEBOX AND BEND DOWN AND LOOK ON THE TOP...

THERE IS A LITTLE DOOR ABOUT 7x3 INCHES WIDE

ITS ON MY DADS 2003 LIMITED 4RUNNER

JUST HAPPEND TO STUMBLE UPON IT ONEDAY WHILE CHANGING THE CABIN AIRFILTER

PERFICT PLACE TO STORE A SMALL HANDGUN! (WHICH WE USE IT FOR ON LONG FISHING OR HUNTING TRIPS)

OK NOW THAT I AHVE SAID THAT I AM GOING TO GO LOOK FOR THIS PLACE U SPEAK OF......... LONG PAUSE WHILE I AM GONE.....

OHH YEAH I SAW SOMETHING LIKE THAT IN MY MOMS ALTAMA

BUT ITS COOL STORAGE PLACE

wow no need for those caps but im pretty sure the place in the glove is only on years 03 and up.

I use my small center console for the ipod. perfect place for it.

upgrading to the 99 console would be a great modification, the cup holders are by far the worst thing about the truck, (my 98 sr5) i dont know how i feel about relocating the moonroof and ect power switches though

my 98 has the power outlet in the cargo area. I read somewhere that there is enough wiring to move the switches over to the drivers side under the foglight switch/
