I received my Fourtreks mounts yesterday and installed them. I originally ordered them for the FJcruiserforums Recovery Clinic, but unfortunately I didn't receive it in time. Oh well, my fault for ordering them so late.
Luke at Fourtreks had a few diameters available (1.25", 1.75" and 2"), so I had to research a little to find that the Sport Edition used 2" diameter clamps. On the FJ forums, Demello and Fourtreks was suggested the most, but only Fourtreks offered 2" mounts.
Well, they worked great! It'll be great for future off roading runs.
One quick note however, these mounts aren't listed for the 4 Runner. I wanted the mounts to be at an angle, so the jack wouldn't come in contact with the paint if I mounted it horizontally. This proved a slight problem. If you see this picture below, the bolts are showing.
These bolts are suppose to be on the back (out of sight), along with the Fourtrek logo, but I had to install these clamps backwards otherwise I didn't have enough clearance to screw down the bolts. On the other side (the back side with the logo) there are also more holes (6 holes for adjustability of angle) vs. the 4 holes on the front.
On the FJ cruiser, the stock factory rack comes with two levels of tubing, offering much more clearance to have the bolts mounted from the rear. Since we don't have that clearance for the 4 runner, I was forced to mount the clamps backwards with the screws showing. No problem though.
The Hi-Lift mount was very nicely fit and finished. So smooth, and the billet aluminum wing nuts are beautifully made. I kept the hi lift on for today to see how it'd hold up, and it worked as expected.
But, that damn Hi Lift jack made so much noise that I doubt I'll keep it on there except when I need it.
Luke was also top notch in taking my order. If you're considering a hi-lift jack mount... he's the way to go.
Overall I'm happy with the purchase. The Recovery Clinic I took made me realize that the Hi Lift is a very versatile tool to have around, along with a Lift Mate.
