I'd like to know as well. Mine have a slow leak so it'd be nice to put them on fully rebuilt.

I didn't change the seal bands because they we not too worn out. I was able to source the lower bushings from fabtech but I'm sure they have them at fox as well.

when I took mine apart and poured out the old oil one of the shocks had water in it to what I assume was from a seal failure. There was some light surface rust, so I chose to hone out the shock bodies. I watched a few coilover rebuild vids on YouTube to get a rough idea of what I was getting into then just followed the instructions. Was pretty fun overall. I figured that I would give it a shot before paying 180 bucks to have a local guy rebuild it and that price is just the labor.

Fox told me over the phone to use 5 weight shock oil for these coil overs.
This is not the exact same coil over but from what I understand they are all very similar and straight forward.

Thanks for posting this information. I just picked up two kits, and order the bushings/sleeves. Hopefully I can get these torn down this weekend, and start cleaning them up.

The bushing kit is part number FTS1116, and you can get it from 4 Wheel Parts for $57 shipped.

I am looking to rebuild a set of these and would like to order the ebay kit that you linked but I am confused about the "seal bands" Are they included in the ebay kit? And is the ebay kit complete with all the seals that I would need?

What I meant to say was wear bands. And no the kit dose not include those. It has all the seals you will need.you need to order two kits. One per shock.

After some research this seems to be the correct seal kit "803-00-057-A"

That kit looks like it leaves you missing a wiper seal for the bearing cap assembly. and the shocks have 2 wear bands. one on the ifp and another on the piston assembly.

I have been doing lots of research on these and being a 2.0 I figure we need to use the most fade resistant oil we can get. I am leaning towards running FOX JM92 shock oil but I just wanted to see what others are using, any recommendations on a good oil to use?
I was told by Fox that they recommend a 5wt but some others have recommended using a 7wt, does anyone have input on this?
Also I purchased "Item# AHD-F20-625IR" from shockseals.com and these seem to be the correct seal kit they came with 2 wear bands per kit.

It takes a lot more then people think to fade a 2.0. I seriously doubt the majority of people on here are driving hard enough, for long enough to fade out that shock.
I have fox 2.0s on the back of my pickup and have thousands of dirt miles on them. I have only faded them out 3 times over the last 6 years that I can remember and it took miles of good sized whoops at to do it.
Saying all that, I switched from the blue fox oil to napa power steering fluid (on the recommendation of a buddy who runs it in his race truck shocks) and it has worked perfect for the last year. It is also less than 1/2 the price for fox or any other "name brand" shock oil.

Sorry for digging this thread back up, but I'm sick of my bouncy front end and need to get these things rebuilt ASAP.
1. That spanner ratchet socket did the same thing as a spanner wrench, correct?

3. So it seems that I could run 5wt shock oil OR Napa PS fluid, correct [MENTION=130022]Twisted Sid[/MENTION]?
4. To those of you have rebuilt your coilovers, what was the hardest thing about it and what tips do you have?

You're going to want a 2.0 kit for the 5/8" shaft, and that part number is 803-00-255-A. Race Ready has these kits, and the shock oil.

I had Fox Shox adjustable coils on the front of my FJ, both snapped from rust while parked. I live about 50 yards away from the beach and other OEM parts rusted also but is was stunned the coils snapped in 1/2. The 1st side snapped at the very bottom passenger side so I didnt notice. The second snapped around the middle and the two halfs of the coil sat on each other kinda 2 stage coil. I didnt see the snaps til it was on a lift.
Resurrecting an old thread. Thanks for all the information here. I've been given a set of these by a friend and looking to rebuild and use them. How have they held up for everyone? What kind of lift are you running with them? I talked to Fabtech and they said don't go over 2 1/2". Thanks!
