Frame Rub -265/65/17

Got new 265/70/17 tires and am now rubbing on the frame on full lock. Haven't seen this issue on the forums for this size, any ideas?

Inside on the rear of the tires, made worse by going in reverse or slight suspension compression

2.5"/1.5" lift
OEM UCA, LCA

Your cams are maxed in opposite directions. That looks odd....but may be normal with a lift.

I'd try wheel spacers or aftermarket wheels with a different offset.

Rotating the cams the same direction moves the LCA and lower ball joint inboard/outboard and affects camber. Rotating the cams opposite directions pivots the LCA/lower ball joint forward/aft and affects caster. It's perfectly normal for the front and rear adjuster cams to be pointing opposite directions, especially when trying to get caster back after a lift. *Actually, had the alignment shop rotated the cams another 45* or so to maximize caster, the wheel would be sitting a bit more forward and your rubbing wouldn't be nearly as bad...

Like @JimInTN said, wheel spacers or aftermarket wheels with less (or is it more? I forget) offset will help, but you might start to get rubbing in the front of the wheel well at the fender liner and on the bottom of the fender (both easily solvable). In the meantime...avoid full lock? Sorry, I don't have any better suggestions.

1.5 spacers are the way to go but you will rub on wheel wells and you will be able to do minor trimming if needed at least it wouldn't be rubbing on the frame

You will probably rub. I went to a 265/70 with a 2.5" lift in the front on TRD pro rims with were narrower and had a positive offset and I had to move the I. Er front fender and trim the front bumper a bit.

Thanks. I'll look into aftermarket wheels.

I think part of the problem is my tires are larger than the average 265/70R17.

10.8" wide, 31.7" tall.

So if I put a 2.5"/1.5" I couldn't fit 32.7" tires?

its not just a lift that makes a larger tire fit. you have to make the space in the fender for the tire to fit. with or without a lift a 32.7 will still have to fit up in the fender when you stuff the tire

its simple. im running a 32 with wheel spacers and a 2 inch lift and all i had to do up front is move the fender liner up some and trim the edge of the bumper

I'm not looking to run wheel spacers. I don't want to put excessive tension on the struts or whatever it is. Can I just do a lot of trimming?

Wheel spacers generally increase the chance of rubbing, rather than decreasing it. The reason is that when the wheel is moved outward on the spindle, it travels further fore and aft as the steering is turned lock to lock. Thus it is more likely to hit the fender in front or behind, depending on the LCA adjustment.

Really, the only mechanical reason to add wheel spacers is to fit wider tires, not taller ones. Other than that, spacers are mostly just for looks.

yes they look good but the truck also feels better in turns with the spacers and i do not get as much body roll

If you buy the spidertracs or a hubcentric type spacer there should be virtually no excessive wear on parts guys are running them for 50k and up with zero issues if you put a 2.5 lift or level with out the spacers IMHO it brings the control arms in or the wheels in to far and looks silly and with a 265/70/17 they will rub but can be very easily remedied by moving wheel liner and a minor trimming of bumper and i also agree with kevin

New here , please be sweet . Toyota 4runner 2006 2WD SR5

Installed 265/70/17 on the factory stock wheel , notice rubbing on the front upper control arm & some noise rubbing from the back tires.
Will a 1" spacer fix this issue? Any thoughs are welcome
