if you have a 3rdgen 4runner, you don't need to download the zip or rar file, there's a Google Doc that has it all in pdf form (no need to burn or mount the iso image, which I found to be a PIA)

Toyota supposedly has made it difficult to save this info to your hard drive. You're limited to printing.

On the 5th Gen forum a member stated that you can save this information to your HD using Adobe Acrobat Pro XI. The product allows you to make PDF format of WEB pages.

This Adobe product is available as a 30 day free trial. He downloaded it; then grabbed a ton of Toyota FSM info from the techinfo WEB site and stored as PDF on his HD.

Having this capability expedited the process of downloading a lot more FSM material in a short period of time.

I cannot verify this works. Just pointing out what I read on the 5th Gen forum.

That was me. It worked.

It was very tedious though, and I only got some of the manual (or there would be a torrent out there of it). I thought I would have time but things came up and I couldn't do it all. Soon the trail ran out but I can get around that I think....I might try it again soon, now that the good weather is here I want to do a few mods.

You can save any document in TIS with the regular Acrobat as well. Just print and then save it wherever you want.

I can't seem to find that link you were speaking about re: 2000 4Runner manuals. I am sooo bummed about the way back taking them down.

Did you try different dates? Last time I tried, a couple of months ago, it took more than five minutes to "connect" and download. I don't have time to try right now.

You aren't trying to access them from a .edu computer? I do know many universities block Torrents. They might block WayBack but I don't know.

I have ended up buying the FSM's used for the earliest three of my Toyotas anyway. If you keep checking eBay you can get a set for about $50. I find it hard to look stuff up on the inline versions. I'm still looking for a 2008 4Runner FSM but not looking too hard.

Update: I just used the link from my first post. I went to the '96 Tacoma and the FSM opened after about a minute. It still works! If you can't get it to work use a cable instead of wireless. Sometimes the file is too big for some wireless networks (work, university, school) I'm at home on crappy Comcast broadband and it works for me!

I have DLed the 96-02 FSM and have OCRed it. This is only because I am self-centered and wanted it this way for my own ease of use. This allows me to search for words within the document. I also added bookmarks for the major section headings so its much easier to click to the section you want.

LMK who to provide this back to for reposting, if this is desired. PM, please, I dont spend lots of time on this board.

It makes the manual much more useful to be able to search within it using the built-in Adobe search tools and table of contents functionality.

The only "free" FSM doc for the 5th Gen 4Runner is at the following. It's for a 1st yr. 5th Gen 2010, but useful nonetheless for other years as well.

In 2013, Toyota added more emission plumbing to the top of the engine, making spark plug change a little more difficult. The next 2 threads have discussion on this. You will have to go thru the entire threads to see photos/explanation of this change.

Help! Can't download this very needed file!

Hello! I am so fortunate to have one of only few of Tacomas in our country. Love it better than any other vehicles I had! my is made in 2001. But I am so unfortunate to have that file download breaking always at 15 - 16 Mb! I can't figure our why. All Tacoma owners are good people, I know! Can anyone send me file by email [email protected] ?

P. S. I had that file until the recent crash of my computer. I thought I restored all my archived files after; it appeared that some folders content was not restored... Just found it!
