Free Turbo Tax filing if you have State Farm

If you have are insured with State Farm, you can use Turbo Tax to file your Federal and State taxes for free. I personally used the Deluxe edition, and it was completely free. Normally it's like $30 for the Deluxe version for Federal and another $25 for State.

You have to sign up online with State Farm, but if you already have their insuarance it's a piece of cake: http://www.statefarm.com/main/tax.asp

Once you sign up and login, the link is on the left hand side of the welcome screen.

I'm normally a slacker and wait till April, but figured I'd do it early this year. I looked online, and I think State Farm has did this last year also so it may be a yearly thing now. Keep an eye out for next year :

Don't feel bad -- someone posted about it on one of our company's internal forums, too.

I like to run the numbers early, then file quickly if getting a refund, or delay if I owe money.

Yeah, really. Looks like this year I'll be delaying..

Gee, it would be nice if State Farm would tell it's customer's (like me) about this. I shouldn't have to find out about it here.

Yea a notification would have been nice. I only found it doing searches for coupon codes for turbo tax. The link I found was for 2006, but when I poked around their site, I saw it on their front page.

The only reason I did it early this year is that I've been 1099 Consultanting the past few months. I haven't been paying any taxes on the income and I was dreading to know how much I'd have to pay. I figured I'd at least do it early, just to see how much I'd have to bend over to Uncle Sam. I normally get a bit of a return, so I think things cancelled themselves out because I only have to pay about $93.00 combined Federal and State.
