Fridge Slider Install Questions

Hey All,



I have a SetPower AJ50 and I'm planning on ordering the slider for it. I have a few questions as to how to mount it to the cargo area of my T4R.



Why do some folks mount/bolt it to a piece of plywood instead of mounting/bolting it direct to the T4R?



If you are mounting/bolting it to a piece of plywood, are you mounting the plywood directly to the T4R then the slider to the plywood?



If needed to drill into the T4R, how do I go about it? I don’t have a sliding cargo tray.

you will find out you need to drill the sheetmetal which means the underside will be exposed to the elements . yes the plywood is mounted to the sheetmetal on existing holes - these holes will never line up to your slider. there is a reason why people mount to plywood - you should look to do the same.

I plan on going with Sherpa. Goose is $$$ and AidenJames doesn't seem to have the best reviews when it comes to customer service.

thanks for this. I didn't know sherpa made base plates and it's pretty reasonable. I priced it out and it's not far off if I was to do it myself.

I have a sherpa rack and love them BUT read the fine print:

5th Gen 4Runner
- Requires drilling and bolting through the floor
- Does not fit sliding tray models

Wont work with sliders and drill through floor (?!?) ... drilling metal should be a no-no.

The AJC is is the best choice IMO. It is 100% reversible (no drilling or cutting).

Goose is also no drill, but will require you to remove the carpet & underlay, which will make your vehicle noisier.
