Do you still get back flow from the rear window with other windows down?

I have a spoiler which shoves air back in when the window is down and was thinking about just covering the space on top of the spoiler with tape.

i am not sure since i never open the rear window. however its great not to have the rear spoiler since i surf and the surf board would hit it lol.

I have a German shorthair who loves his new window. One thing I need to definitely do is the exhaust mod elbow. But quite frankly here in the desert, when it cools down around this time it's beautiful to have all openings open. It's the northern equivalent of spring after winter.

Yes no spoiler and the inside of my windshield and dashboard gets dusty as hell.

Yeah, I agree 100%. After running trails the interior is very dirty with the rear window open. If the dog likes it, leave it open and deal with the dirt. Everyone seems to like the exhaust elbow but IMHO it does very little, I suspect people experience what they want vs. reality.

I have owned both I get less smell back in without the spoiler if your specifically asking about that, with no spoiler and the elbow on my exhaust I get no smell

Same here. I think I've only opened my rear window a couple times in the past 3 years.

No spoiler but I only open it an inch or two and have never had any exhaust smells. Same for my 3rd gen and I open it all the time just to help bleed the heat while the AC coils things down.

Are you removing the resonator to do the exhaust mod elbow? Or is this something you are adding at the end of the tail pipe? I went to a local exhaust shop and they said they would need to remove the resonator to put a 90* bend in. I was a little concerned about what the noise may be like with no resonator, so I never ended up doing it.

FYI I have no spoiler and I get the smell if I put the rear window down.

I removed resonator and in doing it lost a slight rattle at 110k the "watermelon" had caught so much water it had rushed out internally. I picked up no noise at all from deleting it and lost the exhaust smell. I drive every morning with my windows down and love it the air is cool here and humid in the mornings. I did mine in the driveway but have a welder took me around 15 mins start to finish including painting it black with high temp paint. Hardest part was removing the rubber hanger from the existing tailpipe and making a new mount IMO.







And you can't even notice it in black unless looking for it as seen here:

I will probably do exactly what bindery did here. I like to have the windows down as much as possible when it's nice out. I do get quite a load of sulfur with the back down. With the sunroof down it seems like the air is coming in the back and going out the roof and around and around.
