Front axle carrier/driveshaft question.... 89 V6

Ok, so when I got the 4Runner, the previous owner had removed the front axle carrier and front driveshaft, essentially ghetto-rigging it into a 2WD, instead of just repairing the axle carrier. I finally had some time and extra funds, so I found and purchased the new parts. The carrier is in, and when I go to install the driveshaft, I find that it's about an inch too short to fit in between the transfer case and the axle carrier. The axle carrier is out of an 86 V6, and the driveshaft is a mystery. Any ideas? Thanks!

You've probably got a driveshaft from a truck with the wrong transmission. I'm on my phone and can't search, but I think it's the automatic trans/tcase that's longer than the manual?

So you know what I just remembered? Driveshafts compress..... So now that I remembered that it can be made longer, I'm back in business. Yeah, I feel dumb.... Too long of a week....
