front bearings/hub question

Dealer told me a month ago that the noise coming from my front end are noisy bearings and they need to be replaced.

I really did not just have the money to do so until now, and ordered a set from Marion Bumper to Bumper a week ago but its not looking like they will arrive before I embark on a lengthy day trip this sunday.

How long can one drive on bad bearings? what will happen eventually? Will I break down?

If they are making noise then they are pretty bad. They may run several thousand miles or they may seize. It's kind of a crap shoot. Considering you have probably driven a month's worth of miles since your dealer told you they were bad, one more day is probably not going to make much difference.

As stated- no way to really tell- BUT- they usually go a long time before failing completely.

I was shocked at how terrible mine looked the first time I replaced them but they were rolling right along, lol.
