front bumper options

I've been reading about the TJM17 (My bumper of choice) was discontinued a while back and it is now difficult to find one.

What are my current choices? I think the factory approach angle is not bad but I'd like to have something stronger, I pushed a large truck to safety the other day and the paper thin chrome bumper showed its white flag quickly. I am also looking into a small winch to install to help recover all the dumb jeep drivers I have encountered while driving my 100% stock 97 4x4

I haven't gotten stuck yet but I want to be prepared for the worst with a winch front bumper and pull hooks easy accessible, I also want to be able to protect the front end, nothing over the top bumper line either.

Yeah I like my ARB bumper too. Its a really nice bumper. Another option is shrockworks. There nice but expensive.

careful where you put your money, nobody stocks ARB bumper, all are drop shipped from ARB, so find a good reliable dealer is key. some minor modification is needed, but it's really not a big deal, i had mine installed all by myself, an extra pair of hands would be nice.

if you like Shrockworks bumper, do yourself a big favor, search for it first. they are notorius about lying about the lead time, 3-6 months after paid in full is normal. not only in the Toyota circle, also amoung the Nissan and Jeep guys. good luck getting one.

Shrockworks is now around 2 months wait time. Not too bad for something that can run circles around the ARB. You have to wait a week or two for the ARB anyways.

Im not quite sure the shrockworks bumper is that much nicer than the arb. Dont get me wrong it is a nice bumper but the arb is really nice too. I like mine alot. I guess everyone is a little biased about what they own though. You can go wrong with either though. There both really nice. Either would be a nice upgrade from the stock bumper. You could always go the custom route and get exactly what you want.

I went to central 4wheel drive here in sacramento and they called ARB and ordered me a Tacoma bumper, ARB said this would look the best and it was cheaper. The bumper came within less than a week. But idk if I just got lucky :zoom:

post a pic of the taco bumper on there i'd like to compare and see if that's the case, looking better and cheaper.....huh ;-)

I like the ARB look more, but which is lighter? I found the ARB for 1,000 on ebay, how much does the Shrockworks front bumper?

wow thats actually not that bad.

yeah 1K is too much, found locally for 846 which is inline with the above post, check with the local shops that are arb dealers they get discounts on shipping just by having a business address. i believe that's why it works out to be the same price if shipped from the above company.
