Front Bumper

Well I got in this morning to work and I had a message to call my Wife. She drove the 4Runner this morning and had a wreck. She is alright, but it sounds like we need a new front bumper. ( There was a bunch of ice on the roads today.)

Kind of a bummer. BUT I have been thinking of getting a new front bumper, a repalcement (after market) bumper that I have seen members have on this forum. I might be tempted to get a replacement bumper. Does anyone have any recommendations and / or the cost of some of these replacement bumpers?

I will know later today how bad my poor 4Runner is, I might take a picture and post it.

There's at least two individuals on yotatech selling the front bumper for your model. I believe they're going for about $250 plus shipping. I'm sure but I haven't checked, that this would be much cheaper than the dealer. Go to yotatech classifieds for more details or reply here that you're interested and I'll find the links.

i believe the front bumper from toyota with all the parts and to get it painted is just shy or just over 1k. i continue to thank the yankee's (no offense, but im speaking of yankee's that drive cars, not 4runners) that tried to come into my lane a couple years back, didnt work to well for them, so thats when i got the ARB, but if i remember, you have a 2wd so you prob. dont need the ARB, check out the yotatech deal's, hell of alot cheaper than 1k!!

oh, and get those pics up!!

My first thought was to get a after market bumper, a big black bumper. Of course I would have to get a back bumper to match.

The bumper does not have to be painted, as I have the old chrome bumpers. I got a estimate from someone I know in Acworth. It was $718 to get it fixed, which includes a new bumper and a new bumper valance ( the black plastic part).

So I now have to decide to:

1.) Get 2 after market bumpers.

2.) Get it fixed by the Insurance company.

3.) Get it fixed and pay for it myself, I have a $500 deductable.

4.) Forget about it and live with it.

Right now I am leaning toward fixing it myself, the friend at the collision place said he probably could use the old bumper valance and it should fit correctly in a new bumper. A new valance cost $270.76 so it might cost under $500. My Son is about to drive and I don't want the insurance to go up too much.

personally, it doesn't look THAT bad. if your in a budget like me, i would just keep it like that. like what happened to me is, someone backed up into me which that car pushed my car to hit the person in the back. and so i have a dent on my rear bumper. currently under investigation because it was a hit-and-run. -_- but then again, if your giving the car to your son, i would be a great father and replace it. =) i would go with pick number 3. good luck!

I was in a similar situation this summer, I have a 2k Runner, also with the factory chrome bumper. After a minor accident I ordered a TJM T-17, the one that doesn't come over the grill. I love the look of the bumper, it is much more rugged, and the fact that it is more stout and will survive an accident. At first I too felt I needed a rear bumper to match, but after seeing prices I decided against it, now the look has grown on me, it really doesn't look mismatched at all. I paid $389 for the TJM and around $150 for shipping, the rear bumper I like is from Sonoran Steel and he gets $850 w/o shipping. Rear bumpers are not readily available, not sure why just what I found, BTW I am slow w/ pics so my truck is stock in this picture.

If I had to replace my front bumper, I would go this route. It's cheaper than OEM, much more sturdy than OEM, and it just looks meaner...

I agree, Pat161 I sent you a Private Message. Basically asking for info on the bumper and maybe a picture of your bumper.

That sucks. Is it totaled? Why haven't you been on yotatech lately?
The appraiser hasnt seen it yet. But, Im 99% sure its totaled.

They banned me from YT because people were whining.

or because you were ruining the atmosphere they want over there with stupid posts, random comments, and an intense need for attention.

also, you have broken some of their rules, and refuse to take any of the advice given in response to your posts, and as a result, just clutterring up the board.

THAT! is why you were banned. not because of other people whining.

and as a result acted immaturely and irresponsibly with your moms truck and crashed it.

That was why I was suspended. I did jack shit when I came back. In a later email they said people were complaining about what I did before the first ban, so they just axed me.

Love how you no-life assholes like to find half stories and make up the other half. Get a fuckin life.

First let me say, I am sorry about your truck. Second I am sorry you were banned a Yotatech.

And third. Lets try and be civil. I feel we may be breaking a few of our rules here. Not just you, BUT this quote kind of jumps out. So, lets keep on the subject here, which is about messing up our front bumpers. Thanks.
